“Excellent setting for a one in a lifetime celebration!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

Invited by a good friend who chose this venue for his 60th birthday, I was impressed by the incredible setting of this well known restaurant (with a few rooms too). Easily accessible from Lucca on a rather windy and steep road, set on the side of a hill, surrounded by vineyards, one had a splendid view of the mountains and valleys! Starting with aperitifs next to the large pool at sunset, we sat outside at round tables for dinner. We had an excellent cold buffet with an incredible variety of italian starters accompanied by pro-secco and excellent local wines. The main course consisted of the local roasted 'maiale' accompanied by vegetables and potatoes. The birthday cake was excellent, light with berries accompanied with the local pro-secco to toast our host! The lights at night throughout the valley made this location an incredible setting! The maitre and staff were wonderful.A couple of orange baloons beautifully lighted by candles were sent to the sky... A magical evening indeed!.

“The staff could not do enough for us, and we weren't even staying there.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2010

Our group of 10 was staying in a villa near Tenuta San Pietro. After a very long day traveling from Rome by way of Assisi, we arrived at the hotel shortly before midnight to meet the villa owner (she ended up 1 1/2 hours late!). The restaurant and bar were closed but the manager, Gabrielle, welcomed us inside and re-opened the bar. Valentine, who had already changed and was headed out the door to go home, came in and served us drinks. The chef came out and said hello and asked if we would like something to eat. We declined, not wanting to impose any more than we already had, and he came back 10 minutes later with meat, cheese, crackers and bread. With gratitude we came back the next night for dinner. They had set us up in the wine celler for a private dinner, our own dedicated waiter, a private menu created especially for us, with wine pairing and started it all off with prosecco on the house. The owner came in to introduce himself and we made sure that he knew we couldn't have been happier. I didn't stay in the rooms but if the restaurant is any indication you could not possibly go wrong staying there. If you are staying in the Lucca area you absolutely must try the restaurant. One word of warning, get directions, our GPS took us a ridiculously long round about way.
