“Best 3* Hotel i've stayed at!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

I stayed at the Villa Bianca hotel with my wife for 7 nights.
Overall I would say that it is the best 3* hotel we have stayed in so far. I have stayed at 4* hotels which have been at the same standard.

We stayed half board at the hotel, but we didn't realize the hotel was made up of 4 different buildings (if you include its sister hotel where the swimming pool is) when we booked our holiday, so when we checked in at the reception we were shocked when the porter took our luggage outside and put them into a van, but then we quickly realized that there are no footpaths, and the driving there is a bit crazy! But it didn't bother us as the main hotel where we ate our meals was a short walk away.

We stayed in the new building, and paid extra for a sea view which was lovely, and we made good use of the balcony, however i'm not sure the 100 steps to our room every day was worth the extra money - There is no lift in the new building. It didn't bother us as it was good exercise, but i cannot imagine doing that every day if you have small children or if you have walking difficulties.

The room was kept very clean every day, and the decor was new.
The food for our evening meal was delicious. You would struggle if you were a vegetarian, otherwise the selection of food was spot on.

There was a selection of local wine available with your dinner, and although it was quite expensive, it was also very good!

The waiting service was also spot on.
The reception staff were nice enough but it depends what mood you caught them in.

The cable cart to Taormina is next to the hotel, so it was very handy. It cost 3 Euros pp each way, so after a week it can add up if you want to go up there every evening.
But Taormina is such a beautiful place it is worth going to see it.
To walk back down from Taormina to the hotel was a 30 minute walk but very nice views.

We spent a couple of days using the hotel minibus to the Ipanema beach club.
It costs 8 Euros pp a day, and includes transport to the beach, sun lounger, and use of the swimming pool which was a bonus as the sea was full of stinging jelly fish while we were there.

The hotel is good value for money and sits opposite a fabulous beach and next to the cable car.
We had a second floor room in the main building which had a spacious balcony and good all round views.
The hotel is clean and the staff pleasant.
I was a little disappointed with Taomorina. It is all designer shops and seemed to lack a soul. The views are outstanding and the town is pretty but it just seemed a bit up itself!. it was very expensive for food and drink.
We ate at the local American Bar. The food is basic Italian and fabulous salads. The food is amazing and very well priced.
We were a bit fed up with the transport. The train station is about 2.5 miles from the resort. DO NOT TRY AND WALK as we did. There are no footpaths and crazy, crazy drivers. There is a bus to the station from the resort. We caught it one day and it was late, so we missed the train. Check the timetables as there was a 4 hour gap between the train we were trying to get to Catania and the next one. We also tried to get the blue bus to Messinia it turned up 35 minutes late just as we had left the bus stop.
If you want to get around the Island and do not want to hire a car this is not the place to stay.
We ended up taking a couple of trips to see a bit of the place. They were good. Booked via Thompson's who sub contracted to SAT but expensive. Syracruse was fabulous, why not stay there?
If you want to go to the Saturday market as Gardini Naxos get the bus and stay on it to the terminal. Also there is a small Wednesday morning market in Taomornia.
We took a boat ride from Gardini Naxos on the Poseidon. It was 20 euros each and well worth it. The price says it includes lunch. It does not! only cherries and Almond wine.
Castelmonia is worth a visit. The walk up is hard but if you are fit worth the views,. In the square (not where you get the bus.) is a small cafe with a chilli logo on it. We had their gannoli fantastic!
the snorkeling from the beach near Bella Isla was excellent and thew sea was very clean.
all in all a good holiday but the transport did spoil it for us.

The hotel is located next to the main car park in Taormina Mar. Buses, taxis and the cable car to Taormina town are immediately to hand. Steps from the car park lead down to the beach.

Many rooms overlook the car park and have great views out across the Straits of Messina to the Italian mainland. Because it is a transport hub, the area is buzzing with people out and about their daily business.

The hotel is spotless, and the staff are attentive - if a little formal. Bedding and towels are changed every couple of days.

The food in the restaurant is great and is priced competitively with other local restaurants, which are easily reached within a 5 minute walk.
The hotel infrastructure is a little dated - wifi is only available in the lobby and its immediate surrounds; there is only one lift to the room floors above and it is slow by modern standards.

Because Sicily is so large, trips to the various points of interest on the island can start early in the morning. Nevertheless, the hotel was always happy to provide an early breakfast to get the day off to a good start.

In summary, a great hotel providing a perfect base for exploring Taormina and the broader landscape of the beautiful island of Sicily

Booked a one week vacation through big travel agency, benefiting from good rate for flight/hotel package, mainly for the idyllic location of Taormina. I'm traveling often to Italy for work, so I'm not unfamiliar with Italian service: pedant personnel, chaotic organization... Special prize to the personnel in the lobby: the wannabe musician who doesn't like his job and makes you feel it, the bald accountant-looking deaf one who try pretending he doesn't understand, or the bimbo who doesn't move her finger even when there are 5 people waiting. And of course, no customer satisfactory form. Exception made for the personnel of the restaurant who were 100 light hours more polite. So once you got used to this typical Italian attitude, you'd better enjoy the surroundings because the hotel is not worth staying a long time inside. We were staying in the old building above the cable car station: the room was not well maintained, the shower was clogged, the whole building was left unattended and wind engulfed into the building at night making doors banged all night long.
We also discovered an outrageous normal night rate.
Long story short, if you plan to book a hotel yourself without going througha travel agency, better pay a little bit more and get some decent service and not wonder if a fire will ignite from the poor electrical installation.

Villa Bianca is across the street from the beach resorts; the views from the higher floors of the beaches were beautiful. The hotel provided a discount for the beaches next door but it was not much of a deal different than offered the random public. However, the beach facilities were great and the clear beautiful water was wonderful. Riding the tram ride up and back from the town (shopping and restaurants) was very convenient to the hotel. Taormina is such a pretty town with many many lovely restaurants and shopping opportunities.

Room Tip: Upper floors facing the street or parking lot had pretty views of the beaches.

A fabulous location-the room was small, and needed updating-the balcony offered splendid
views over the beach and beyond.--Taormina is charming and the cable car close by is a huge bonus. This was part of a Thompson Package!!! and was on the whole spoilt by this rather expensive and very ordinary hotel--The food ,considering this is Sicilly was also very average!!

Taormina was our last stop on our trip round the south of Sicily, and we had no idea how expensive the hotels would be in Taormina compare to the other city we visited. Finally, we took a room for one night at Villa Bianca, 122 euro for 1 night. The room was small, but had a balcony with a view looking over the bay of Mazzaro.
The hotel is situated close to the piazza from where you take the funicular up to Taormina town. As it is very difficult to find parking space in Taormina, it was ideal to leave the car at the hotelparking and take the funicular.
Next day we went to Giardini Naxos instead, close to Taormina, but not at all that expensive.
