“Unforgettable!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

My wife and I will never forget this hotel. We initially wanted to stay in Taormina for two days, just to see the place and then move on exploring Sicily. We ended up staying a week and sacrificed visiting half the island. There was just something special about this hotel. The people were wonderful, the service was excellent, the view is breathtaking! It is amazing to lay by the pool in the sun while you read a book, lift up your head and see the mediterranean and the coast of Sicily until it gets lost in the horizon. No less fantastic is it to get up, walk a few meters to the pool restaurant and have scrumptious spaghetti alle vongole. The rooms are lovely, clean, and the balconies offer spectacular views. Just sitting there as the sun goes down is mesmerising. After the 2nd morning we asked for another night because we didn´t want to leave. We went through the same ritual the following 5 days until we decided we had to leave if we wanted to catch a glimpse of other wonderful towns along the south coast. But we stil didm´t want to leave!

The centre of town is just a few minutes walk away where there is an enormous selection of shops and restaurants. The narrow streets just ooze with charm with cafes where you can sit and enjoy an espresso as well as mojito or a delicious sicilian red wine.
One thing to note is that Taormina is not exactly a cheap location so be careful if you´re on a tight budget.
Since you´re in Italy it goes without saying that there is plenty to enjoy culturally. We particularly enjoyed the Greek Theatre but that is just one example. if you´re looking for some nature you can make your way to the Mount Etna national part. However, if you go to the top be sure to pack some warm clothes. You can also take the cable car or bus scuttle down to the beach (Taormina itself is 200 meters above sea level) where you have a choice of sandy and pebbly beaches.
When it comes to food, what can I say, it´s practically impossible to eat badly. Just check trip advisor or your lonely planet and find something in line with your budget and I´ll bet you´ll enjoy it, specially if you enjoy your dinner while overlooking the bay of Taormina at night.

I had two nights and did not want it to end. You can start your day relaxing by the pool, or grab a quick lunch before you head out of town. Easy to get to Corso Umberto and the cable car. I loved the cleanliness, service, early morning coffee in my room was there almost by the time I hung up the phone. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I was also given a beautiful upgrade for a small charge. I will go back!

This hotel is spotless, with extremely friendly staff, and a swimming pool with a sea view. It's a short walking distance to corsa umberto where you can find some fabulous restaurants. Some rooms have a sea view and I would recommend that you request a sea view. I would highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel really is a little Gem!!. What makes it so special is simply the staff. They are wonderful, welcoming, friendly and warm. They really make every effort to make sure your stay is without hassle, is relaxing and is enjoyable.

We have stayed in many 5 star hotels around the world and felt that what this hotel lacks in terms of luxurious appointments, it makes up for in warm hospitality. It has a cosy boutique feel to it. The rooms are spotlessly clean and ours had a balcony with fabulous views over the Bay of Naxos and Mount Etna.

The hotels situation on a quiet street gives a peaceful ambience and the beautiful gardens and pool are a joy. All the restaurants etc are with a 10 to 15 minute stroll away in Taormina and the choice is vast.

We would like to say a huge thank you for a wonderful stress free, relaxing holiday in beautiful Sicily. Many guests were repeat visitors – I am sure we will be to!

Superb again. We have been here 2011, 2012, and now 2013.

It is a gem. So friendly & helpful. Beautiful old hotel. Wonderful views. And there is no need to go anywhere as so lovely to just sit and relax by the pool all day, before the short walk to a myriad of restaurants near by.

All staff friendly, especially Antonella and Joshua.

Be back soon.

The first three days we had a room with ocean view, so beautiful. We even had a window in the shower. Huge plus for double shower! Me and my boyfriend could both shower at the same time.
The next three days we had a room without view. No double shower but bath tub. The rooms are really nice and delicate.

The best about this hotel is the location. Just 5 minutes away from the main street. The pool area is nice, but the lunch restaurant is not that good. They serve a good lunch buffet, but you will soon get tired of the food there. We ended up eating most the lunches in the town. After around five its only shaddow in the pool area.

Plus for free and fast wifi, both in the rooms and by the pool.

Dear Guests,
Thank you for mentioning the many aspects of Villa Belvedere that made your stay here a very enjoyable one.
We would however like to say a word in defence of our open-air, pool-side restaurant – where, as you rightly say, the buffet is always very good and always very fresh – but perhaps you didn’t sample the printed menu, with the various and very different specialities of each day to choose from; indeed, we invite our long-stay guests, to suggest something they would like for lunch and our chef will prepare it.
Concerning the end-of-day shade on the pool area –this depends not on us, but on the Mediterranean latitude and on the time of the year and is however often much appreciated in the very hot, long summer days when the sun lights our gardens and the pool from about 7.a.m. and which we are lucky enough to enjoy almost all year round in Taormina. From the private sun-terraces and French balconies, which are higher than our gardens, however, the late afternoon sunshine blending from sunset to dusk, often displays spectacular colours in the sky for guests to enjoy as the daylight fades beyond Mount Etna.
Kindest regards,
Cristian Pecaut

A beautiful hotel run with pride and dedication by its owners. Warm friendly staff who could not do enough for you, all with a willing smile on their faces. Breakfast was more than adequate, with a sumptuous array of hot cold low or high calorie delights, an excellent fresh variety. The pool was both comfortable and cosy, not really a place for children, the pool bar served fresh food daily with a good variety of local dishes. The views are stunning, the location convenient with a complete feel of freedom. The hotel gardens are beautifully and lovingly maintained and is a feast of flowers, orange and lemon trees and plenty more. Taomina is a few minutes walk from the Belvedere, full of life, with plenty of well priced restaurants shops and hustle and bustle. There is plenty to do and see from the Greek Theatro to Madonna della Roca Church high above the town. Steps and more steps, we loved exploring and walking but if you don't like urban hills and steps be prepared for a workoutl! We loved Taomina, clean, well kept and full of Sicilian life. Friendly kind and engaging people. Our hotel stay was faultless, we are seasoned travellers with high expectations and Villa Belvedere far surpassed what we expected. We had two excursions to the beach, very basic pebble beaches and you need sea shoes to go in the cool refreshing sea otherwise its a bit uncomfortable on the feet. Good restaurants: Trattoria da Nino, fab fish in Taormina and down in Isola Bella is Il Barcaiolo with locally caught fish well worth a visit but book and its closed on Tuesdays! We leave with happy memories, toned legs and a big apitite to return soon. Thank you to all at the VB xxxxx

Room Tip: Room with sea view or balcony is a must as the views are just stunning. Sea shoes for beaches
