The hotel is aptly named. After the busy streets of beautiful Taormina, it was lovely to come back to the beautiful peace and relaxation of the hotel. It is a restored mansion and exudes class, space and tranquility. The staff could not have been more friendly or more helpful and breakfast on the terrace amongst the citrus trees and over looking the sea was charming. A perfect place to stay with parking and only 1km from Taormina

We stayed at Villa Sirina for 2 nights in September and were very impressed. The room was clean and comfortable and the view from the private terrace was great. The hosts were more than helpful. Yes, the place is a little out of the way, but we liked that we weren't in the middle of town. The breakfast was the best we had in Italy. We will definitely return.

Pros - friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms and a decent selection at breakie (plenty of fresh fruit, pastries, good coffee, meat and cheese. If you want a full English you wont be happy but who wants that in the sunshine anyway??) Lovely little terrace area to eat.

Cons - The pool is small and I imagine would fill up very quickly. The rooms are a bit old fashioned and the air con/extractor fan quite noisy at night.

For us the real negative was that the hotel is so far out of town. Its situated just off a main road at the bottom of a steep hill about 1 mile from Taormina. I dont usually mind being a little way out of things as long as you can walk easily but you couldnt really do that here. Buses seem a bit hit and miss and taxis were 15 euro which was a bit of a rip off. There's not much around the hotel itself although there were some restaurants on the beach on the way to Giardini Naxos. The view from the hotel is over a building site and you can hear traffic from outside near the pool.

My general impression was that hotels in Taormina are fairly expensive for what you get in terms of facilities. Reviews were generally quite mixed for hotels in the same sort of price range as Villa Sirina. We chose Villa Sirina as we thought it would be a good base to stay to explore the area of Taormina whilst having a nice pool and outdoor area. It would have been totally fine for that purpose except for the location. If i returned Id tried to stay somewhere more central (although this might mean paying more or sacrificing a pool) or maybe down by the beach at the bottom of the cable car.

Having said that, wed just spent a few days in the Thearasia hotel on Vulcano which was absolutely incredible so perhaps we were expecting too much!

We stayed at Villa Sirina for 8 nights in July and this was our third stay here. The welcome that we received was that of family members returning home and that says it all. This is a family run hotel and we were part of the family! All the hotel staff were friendly and very attentive and, again, special mention for Giovanna. Her willingness to "go the extra mile" for guests, bringing the coffee without having to ask the order each morning and her beautiful singing brought joy to breakfast. Listen to Salvatore's restaurant recommendations - they were spot on. When we are back in the area, we will stay here again - no question!
