The Villa Ducale is perched high on the hillside overlooking Taormina, Mt Etna and Giardini Naxos where the cruise ships and mega yachts anchor; just like in the movie An Affair to Remember. Every room seems to be nestled in a basket of flowers with views that are mezmorising.

To reach the heart of Taormina there is a free hotel shuttle bus (be sure to book your time with reception). There is also an easy walk down the wide and gentle sloping steps that cascade down the hillside and offer the most spectacular views at every turn.

Ever possible guest comfort has been thought of including the shawls for the ladies sitting on the terrace in the cool of the night looking at the twinkling lights below and the glowing lava spilling down the side of Mt Etna above.

The real secret, however, is the Villa Ducale staff. Their attention to detail and willingness to help is unsurpassed. All hotels offer service but very few provide service with smiles, enthusiasm and style. Villa Ducale is the hidden gem of Taormina and is for people who like discovering special beautiful places. Try it, you'll love it.

We stayed in the Villa Ducale for 2 nights and were overwhelmed by the room (junior suite with a full view upon the straights of Messina) and the service, in particular those rendered by Luca and Antonio. We had been to different places on Sicily with our 1960 Mercedes Benz, enjoying different accomodations and people, but this stay at the Ducale was without any doubt the "Top of the Trip". Just to mention a couple of highlights: Warm welcome with a cool Prosecco, unsually ample and delicious breakfast buffet, seducing afternoon "tea-time" display - all with the hotel's compliments. Tip for any future traveller and wine lover: Try the Nobile di Montepulciano for 25 € from the wine list - if the management hasn't taken it from the list by now!

Stayed here for four days at the end of an Italian holiday. I cannot think of a better way to end our trip. This place was absolutely unbelievable, and our private villa was possibly one of the most gorgeous, romantic places I have ever stayed. Sitting outside our villa at night watching the red glow from Mt Etna was something else. Everything about the room, and service was perfect, and we enjoyed breakfast on the outdoor patio with possibly the most fantastic view I have ever had while sipping a cup of coffee. The town of Taormina is one of the most amazing beautiful places I have been to, and staying at this hotel just sealed the deal as far as everything was concerned.

My friends and I were privileged to spend 4 days as guests in the magical Villa Ducale. From the moment of our arrival, we were treated beautifully. The staff, particularly Paulo and Lucca, did all that they could to make our time memorable.
The views from both the patio as well our our accomodations are lovely.
The food was wonderful, from the delicious breakfasts to the light dinners.
I would hightly recommend the Villa Ducale to anyone who has the good fortune to find themselves in Taormina, Italy. The experience will be one to treasure.

We booked a week at this hotel as our first visit to Sicily. Our experience confirmed all the positive reviews on tripadvisor. On arrival we were greeted with glasses of sparkling wine and fresh orange juice and guided to the terrace so we could admire the stunning views of Taormina, the Med and Mount Etna. As requested we were given two delightful rooms next to each other - one double and one twin for our teenagers. Each had its own terrace with sun loungers and we enjoyed many hours here relaxing and reading in the spring sunshine. The walk down into town was only 15 minutes but involved about 500 steps so don't wear high heels! The hotel runs a mini bus service several times a day so you don't have to walk but we enjoyed the exercise preferring to take the bus for the return journey. Breakfast was served outside on the terrace and there was an enormous range of food from freshly squeezed orange juice to olives, dried meats and fruit tart. What made our stay outstanding was the level of service - nothing was too much trouble and all the staff were, without exception, friendly and helpful - recommending places to eat and sites to visit. Thank you to Paolo and his team for making our visit so memorable!
