Owner description: The view of Mount Etna and the sea beyond is absolutely superb at Taormina's 10,000-seat ancient Greek amphitheater, which was erected in the third century BC and expanded by the Romans.

“Good but expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

You can't stay in taormina without seeing the amazing amphitheatre but it is very expensive to get in. The views of the area and Mount Etna are amazing though!

“Amazing view !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

The amphitheater itself is beautiful but for me the main thing was the view from there to mount etna, the towns on the adjacent hills and the beach. If your'e over 65 - you get in for free (like other sights in sicily).

“SPECTACULAR THEATRE SETTING”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

With the magnificence of Mt Etna framed between the ancient columns of the theatre, this truly is a spectacular and magical theatre setting. We loved wandering around the semi-ruined theatre and it would be a wonderful place to see a production staged. This was probably our favourite of all the Greek & Roman theatres we visited whilst in Sicily.

Iconic view over the Med. We visited off season so had the pleasure of being on our own... It is famous for a reason!

“Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

I have a soft spot for Greek architeture and that must be the most beautiful setting for an amphitheatre that I have seen. Most amazing! You can see both Etna and the sea. One must be a brilliant playwright in order to keep the audience's attention in such a setting. Magnificent views!
