Stayed at the Grand Timeo for a short honeymoon last year... The hotel is very nice, with amazing views, and has a charming old world feel to it. That said, for the exorbitant price, it fell short of our expectations. There was no effort made on the part of the staff to acknowledge that we were on our honeymoon (despite specifying this when we made a reservation and checked in). We were given a room in the main building right next to the elevator with a balcony and could hear people in adjacent rooms as well as the staff cleaning and gardening outside from very early hours in the morning. There were also some service snafus like a maid walking into our room without knocking while we were still there, restaurant staff rushing us through our dinner, a staff member offering to call us a taxi at the Sant'Andrea when their shuttle was full and then forgetting to do so...
These are all small things but service, above all, at this kind of hotel should be impeccable and warm and in our case nothing was done to make us feel welcome. There were some very nice things about the Timeo like the breakfast (amazing), architecture, pool, fresh cut flowers and toiletries.
Food is better outside of the hotel -- check out Trattoria da Nino and you won't be disappointed!
Away from the elevator and higher floors are better!

First of all I would like to thank you for choosing the Hotel Timeo for your honeymoon and it was a pleasure to have you as our guest. We’ve just received your feedback through Tripadvisor and I’m really sorry to learn that your stay with us didn’t meet your highest expectations.
However, I’m puzzled that we’ve only received your comment after one year and I would have loved to meet you during your stay in order to improve immediately the situation.
In view of this I would appreciate receiving from you more details about your reservation so that we can investigate the matter further.
I can ensure you that our hotel staff is very professional and attentive in arranging the best welcome and giving further attention to all of our guests.
Normally we like to surprise our guests, who are on their honeymoon and prepare the bed with some nice decorations and rose petals and also place a good bottle of Italian champenoise in the room. We are deeply sorry that in your case this was not met and we would like to understand the reason.
Regarding the inconveniences you experienced in our restaurant and with our housekeeping services please be aware that I have taken action to ensure that they won’t happen again.
Our feedback in general from last season has been more than positive and I’m therefore even more sorry that you had a different impression of our hotel staff and services.
However, rest assured that we are continuously doing our utmost to improve our quality and service level and your feedback has proved to be very helpful.
