“Lovely views of Etna from the balcony”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

Recently stayed at Villa Constanza Bellavista for 6 nights and really enjoyed the apartment we had. The accommodation is within walking distance of the main Corsa and other sights of interest in Tamormina. The cable car is just a little further on and is 3 Euros each way. The twin beaches of Mazzaro and Isola Bella are lovely with plenty of sunbeds and places to eat. The town of Castlemola is not far and is a nice walk if you are in the mood. The apartments are rustic in style and have everything you need to enjoy your holiday. Our balcony was large and had views of the sea and Mount Etna, with sunbeds and a large table and chairs. We could not fault it at all. We had a car because we were travelling on to Cefalu, but if you are just staying in Taormina, it is not essential as the buses and trains are good. Plenty of places to eat just before you get to the main Corsa which were very good. There are lots of steps to negotiate to get into Tamormina and for this reason it may be difficult if you have walking problems, otherwise the exercise is good. There is a good supermarket down the steps that is not too far away.

Stayed here as a family group across 3 apartments with twin babies age 1. The kids were in enrico with us, which is ground floor and nearest the pool (which is a great size for a small apt complex) but it has a lovely little terrace for breakfast or lunch. Taormina is a stunning place, albeit a little touristy for the well travelled but that didn't really worry us because we were a big group and there is a lot going on to keep everyone interested. If you have small children you should be aware that the hills in taormina can be challenging but we tended to hang out by the pool during the day and then venture out in the evening with the kids when it got a little cooler. Antonio and his parents rocco and carmella are wonderful hosts and they speak great english. We really had a very memorable family holiday in this place. It is only a 5 minute walk to the corso and a 7 minute calf muscle work out on the way back! The views from the uptairs apts panoramico and etna are amazing. Sergio is a studio apt but recently renovated and has a much more modern feel to the other apts, which are fairly basic, but have everything you need. The views and the pool are the big selling point here, aswell as the wonderful hospitality. There is a car park, but I would think twice about renting a car in Taormina. The town is a rabbit warren of 1 way streets and parking in general is difficult. Antonio also has very nice apartments right on the corso umberto which are similar in style. No pool or view, but no hills, that's the trade off! Thanks Antonio and hard luck Italia in the final!

Can't recommend these lovely apartments highly enough.

We spent a week here with our two children and stayed in the Panoramico (2 bedroom) apartment. The apartment was clean, comfortable and well equipped - it was wonderful to have every kind of kitchen equipment we wanted to cook lunch and dinner, make fresh coffee etc. The bedrooms are a good size (particularly the main bedroom which is a lovely room), air conditioned and with comfortable beds and lots of storage. The living area has amazing wrap-around views of the coast and Mount Etna. The balcony outside is a good size, perfect for lunch al fresco, drying your swimming costumes etc. The bathroom is a little old-fashioned, and the hot water a little unreliable sometimes, but the apartment really felt like a home from home. We didn't find road noise a problem at all - yes, you can see and hear the road from the balcony but the noise was no more than a gentle hum (only audible outside or when windows are open) and we weren't going to look at the road when we had Etna and the beautiful blue sea to gaze at.

The apartment building is set on the side of the hill and is surrounded by terraced areas beautifully planted with bright flowers. The pool is a great size for children (it has steps at one end but otherwise is deep all the way, so best if they can swim), and just big enough for adults to swim a short length and cool off. The pool and sun terrace are also very well kept and surrounded by plants, trees and flowers. And that amazing view is always on show.

Antonio and his family were great hosts, welcoming and friendly but without being overbearing. They handled our booking with great efficiency and were very approachable both before we arrived and during our stay.

The location of the apartment is excellent, a genuine 4-5 minutes walk from the top of the Corso Umberto with its huge selection of restaurants, cafes and shops (reached via a staircase of 65 steps). There's a decent-sized supermarket at the bottom of the steps, so you can pick up whatever you need without using the car. The parking outside the apartment block is a real bonus - the drive up to the building is a little hairy at times though with some steep, sharp corners. Hire a small car!

For us this was the perfect holiday appartment. Central, comfortable, affordable, easy walking distance of the main drag and with a pool to cool down after a day out sightseeing - what more could you want?

Room Tip: Panoramico is perfect for a family with children

We stayed for four nights at the Villa Constanza in October 2011 and were very pleased with our choice. Our apartment was clean and well equipped. The view of Mount Etna and the coast was stunning. The location is perfect, just a few minutes walk to the main street and some excellent restaurants. The only disappointment was the noise from the autostrada which was incessant. To be fair it couldn’t be heard in the bedroom with the windows shut, but it spoiled the ambiance of the balcony for us. The autostrada is not visible from the apartment as it is screened by trees, but is 150 meters vertically below. I did manage to ignore it after a few days and it might not bother a city or urban dweller, but I live in a quiet rural area and found the traffic noise intrusive. The pool area suffers from the same level of road rumble.

Villa Costanza Bellavista is family owned and has a nice selection of apartments set in a lovely garden with pool and sun lounging area with great view of Mount Etna. We stayed in one of the studio apartments, Sergio, with our 1 year old son. The studio was new, a good size, nicely furnished with comfortable sofa bed, satellite TV, plenty of storage space, well equipped kitchen/dining area, and spacious shower room with huge shower, toilet, bidet and sink unit. The owners provided a cotbed for us free of charge, and it was in perfect condition ready made up with nice bedding. The apartment has a small private terrace to the front and use of the villa's mature gardens which are lovely, located over a number of levels (our 1 year old had fun climbing up all the stairs) equipped with a good sized, very clean pool, and sun lounging area with views towards the coast and Mount Etna. There is also a parking space to use if you have your own car. The Costello family are very welcoming and on hand if you have any queries, but also very discreet, letting you relax and enjoy the wonderful setting. Nice friendly touches, like the owners coming to say hello and check that all was going ok, and the gardner dropping by one day to give us some fresh basil. The villa is a short walk uphill from the main part of Taormina and there is a supermarket enroute making it easy to pick up daily supplies. Although there were other guests staying at the time, we felt like we had the place to ourselves a lot of the time, and enjoyed relaxing in and by the pool while our wee one had his naps during the day. A very nice holiday apartment, highly recommended.

We have very much enjoyed our holidays at Villa Costanza Bellavista in Taormina. The apartments are excellent located just 5 minutes away from the Corso Umberto and from a supermarket whre you can find anything you need. The owners of the apartments live on the premises and do literally anything to make their guests feel at home and comfortable. We stayed in apartment Sergio which is meant for 2 persons. It is spacious and has all the comfort you need. The pool is great, big enough and very clean. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone who likes to stay close to the city's center, yet have all the peace and quietness of a nice and clean apartment complex.

Room Tip: I would try to get an apartment with the view on the sea / Etna

My second time here. This time we stayed in the Curioso apartment, facing mount Etna on the side with a little terrace. These apartments are very clean, the owners are very nice and friendly. The pool is lovely, the lounging area is great, the view from the pool/lounge area is really beautiful. The great thing about it, is the other people in the apartment seem to be more continentals - so they go off on day trips in the cars, leaving the swimming pool and lounging area free. So, it's like having your own private pool, and we had great fun with the little baby on her first swimming experience.

It's a bit of a tough walk with the buggy up the hill - and there are steps too - but you can avoid the steps by walking around to the other entrance. Someone else mentioned noise, but there was no noise where we were apart from the hiss of a distant roadway. (Note: Taormina is nothing like Positano - which has serious slopes)

For what we got, in the location, and in wonderful Taormina, these are budget apartments for half the price that they should be. The problem with this location is that the people who stay here like to return.

I'm guessing that these apartments are officially furnished to about a 2/3 star rating - good kitchen, gas stove, two air conditioners, Satellite TV, coffee maker, cot provided, terrace table and chairs, insect zappers - pretty OK, nice showers and very clean..... but for the price of this apartment, for the facilities, pool, sun loungers, and the location 5 minutes walk away from town, for the beautiful view, decent owners, and the overall value of the experience, this beats the pants off the other overpriced offerings out there in Taormina.
So, for this reason I'm giving this 5 stars.

Thanks Antonio, we'd like to come back, but we know you'll already be booked out from last years guests returning.

Final advice: Book early
