Excellent hotel, nice and helpfull staff. Very good location, we arrived on a busy day and the staff was very helpfull. on the next day they helped us with planning our tour of the city. The hotel is very clean, quiet and well positioned close to the old city.

room was beautifully designed and furnished, very bright, good lighting, a lot of character with a window overlooking a small square and other neighboring buildings. it was picturesque.

this was the case with the entire hotel which has been fully renovated inside and also beautifully designed. we had the opportunity to meet the owner of this hotel who was kind enough to show us other areas of this hotel and share with us abit about the making of the hotel including the fact that the marble stairs still remained from the original building.

location was great, we were able to park our car outside the hotel (a section of the street roped off and reserved for the hotel). just outside Ortygia and walking distance under 10 mins.

we would definitely return if we visit syracuse again.

Dear Madam,
thank you for your positive feedback (after nearly one year; but it is better late, than never). You had, I suppose, actually a very good and extraordinary experience at Hotel Cavalieri in Siracusa since you remember your stay after quite a long time. It would be wonderful if all our guests remember after one year still Hotel Cavalieri!
Hope to see you one day again in Siracusa.
Kindest regards
Gianluca

We booked Hotel Cavalieri at short notice whilst travelling around Sicily last September.
Arriving in Syracuse by train, the hotel was a 15-minute walk from the railway station and was relatively easy to find, being located on a main road.
We were warmly greeted by staff on arrival and were immediately struck by the calm, stylish interior of the hotel. Our room contained modern furniture and decoration, but was above all a functional, comfortable space. The only thing I would change was a small detail in the (also very stylish) bathroom; the shower head was situated on the side wall of the bath, rather than at the end, and could not be adjusted, resulting in some of the water inevitably escaping the bath area when showering.
The room option we chose was not available for the duration of our stay; as an alternative, the manager thoughtfully upgraded our room at no extra cost, to enable us to stay in the same room throughout.
The buffet breakfast was excellent, with a wide range of pastries, breads, cheese, fruit etc.
The staff were always more than happy to help and offered suggestions about restaurants, sightseeing etc, as well as recommendations for our onward journey throughout Sicily.
This is the first time we have stayed in a "boutique hotel" and it was a very positive experience. I have always wondered if a boutique hotel would offer "style over substance" as it were, but this certainly wasn't the case with Hotel Cavalieri. As well as being well situated for sightseeing, the hotel offered a calm, stylish oasis with excellent customer service. Would definitely recommend it. When checking out, the manager requested to take our photograph, which was subsequently e-mailed to us as a reminder of our stay. A nice touch.

If you hate minimalist style boutique hotels, don't go to hotel Cavalieri. But even then, if you do you will find that the white sterility (those who like this type of hotel would rather call it cool, spiritual serenity) is complemented by the warm friendliness of its owners and staff! So you feel peaceful in the middle of the hustle and bustle of this port city. The historic Ortigia peninsula is literaly 150m away and a 2km walk to the archeological park gives you an oportunity to get the flavour of Syracuse and join Archimedes in saying "eureka!". You have found a clean and comfortable haven of peace in a fascinating city, well cared for by friendly people. Apparently the May-June theater festival of Greek drama is well worth a visit. Rooms are light and spacious, and breakfast is a deliciius affair of fresh local produce and homebaked pies!

I had read the other great reviews and reserved a room for a few nights. My husband and I loved it. The ambiance is really incredible. I would call it a smart and stylish boutique hotel. It was comfortable, a great breakfast, soothing atmosphere, and was welcoming in every way. Would reserve here every time; and also for some more days.

This location was excellent. The staff was friendly and gave unique local tipps. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was large, king size, and comfortable. There was free wifi offered in our room. I loved the design. In my opinion Italian design is the best in the world and Hotel Cavalieri maintained this opinion. We were concerned at first, that there would be noise transmitted to the rooms; but the hotel and our room were very quiet. We both loved the candles everywhere. It's such a cosy feature. Last but not least: marvellous breakfast. All you need to start a day. We not only will recommend Hotel Cavalieri to all our friends but will come back.

We arrived in Siracusa late in the afternoon and were delighted to unpack our lagguagge and sit down to a wonderful, refreshing sgriccio. This Sicilian drink was delicious. The same was true the next morning for the breakfast buffet! The folks at Reception were exceptionally helpful and answered all of our questions. We also appreciated the overall comfort and amenities of the room ... a idden gem!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Hotel Cavalieri, at the edge of the ancient city center, is a case in point; this old aristocratic residence belongs to a family of architects and designers, who've turned its 19th-century halls and rooms into a charmingly eclectic, thoroughly contemporary boutique hotel. The location, on Via Malta, is just to the mainland side of the bridge to Ortygia, which is the original ancient Greek settlement. This means easy access by day and a measure of peace by night. As does the hotel itself - these old walls shut out the noise, sealing guests in to a fantasy of noble life. It's not a period piece, though; along with the well-preserved original architecture you'll find all manner of contemporary touches, rooms featuring brand-new bath fixtures, beds and electronics and furnished with mid-century design classics. With few rooms it's perhaps a bit bigger than it feels - from within the rooms you'd be hard pressed not to imagine you're the old house's sole resident. ... more   less
