“A must stay place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

We stayed here on our trip to Sicily and found it to be wonderful our host was just the best as also our breakfast lady our room with our own patio was a delight the smallness of this property makes it a must plus being on the island away from the mainland of Siracusa made it wonderful nothing was too much trouble for our host and we loved the fact that it was only small 7 rooms and very quiet ease to get everywhere we wanted to go

Room Tip: Ask for the one with patio though any would be just as good

This b&b felt like home. Had a very nice room, spacious, clean and the roomdoor opening to the lounge/livingroom area.
Very comfortable bed and nice bathroom.

The owner is a great guy, enough tips from him to eat and for sightseeing.
Location is awesome, everything is close by.

Breakfast is a treat, fresh fruits, the best coffee (is there bad coffee anyway in Italy) and a variaty of bread and cheeses, perfect.

Highly recommended!!

We stayed here for 6 nights. This describes itself as a b and b. and offers comfortable rooms with lots of room and air conditioning. The breakfast is eaten together and offers a range of fresh stuff. Although Giovanni is there morning and afternoon,it's helpful to have keys for coming and going. The staff were obliging, all spoke more than enough English, and the whole place was consistently clean. 5 minutes walk from the sea, if you walk slowly. Ditto from the main shops. Super take away pizzeria just round the corner. Wonderful place, And seriously nice other guests. We would go back

Room Tip: I think I heard bin men one night at 1 a.m ( very clean place) so maybe ask for a room at the back...

We chanced upon this b&b and from the moment we met the person staffing the office it had a nice feel about it. The rooms were spacious, a great guest common room, English books left behind by others to swap, wifi and tea and coffee to have during the day. Breakfast was really good and this is saying something because in Italy this is not always the case. The staff even helped me park a car in a difficult space which in Ortigia is the norm. I would recommend this for location, comfort and friendliness.

This is a very comfortable, clean and well-maintained B&B in the atmospheric setting of Ortigia. The host, Giovanni, is friendly and very helpful. He does not thrust unwanted advice upon you but if you have questions he is a mine of information and good advice. He goes the extra mile to assist, including in our case arranging for a big bag of washing to be quickly and cheaply laundered. The buffet breakfast offers an ample and interesting selection of cereals, meats, pastries and cakes. We particular appreciated the cappuccinos. We would definitely stay here again if and when we return to Siracusa.

Room Tip: Some rooms have terraces. We had a small balcony which allowed us to sit outside with a glass of win...

If you are coming to Syracuse ( and although it's lovely a day or two at most is enough), you could do no better than staying at this charming house. Yes, it is a house, a grand house but cosy just like a good house should be. Giovanni the host is very friendly and will guide you through all the best sights and restaurants of this beautiful town. Our room was light bright and airy, it had a super terrace which was ideal for finishing the day with an apero before setting out for the evenings entertainment. Breakfasts were mouthwatering and there were tea and coffee making facilities in the lounge for early risers like me. We made use of the 2 bicycles available free of charge which were ideal for exploring. Finally a dining tip. Try a place called Cantina Mavavoglia. I have not seen it in any guides and its a little difficult to find (it's in Via delle Carceri Vecchie near Piatzza Duomo) but a wonderful atmosphere and our meals were fantastic.

Room Tip: The one with the terrace was great for us.

The Palazzo del Sale is a really wonderful place. We stayed for a week and loved everything about it - the beautiful and spacious rooms which are immaculately kept, Melissa's delicious breakfasts and her valuable advice, the kindness and the courtesy of Giovanni, who is an excellent host. Staying there is like staying with friends, rather than in an impersonal hotel. And Ortigia is amazing too. A beautiful place, with glimpses of blue sea down alleyways, good swimming, a stunning piazza and lots nearby to do.
