“Not living up to expectations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2014

We had lunch during our holiday in Sicily, staff and owner are very friendly and helpfull. Our food was a little bit dissapointing and the bill was pretty high. We desided to go for the buffet and some side dishes. What they charged for the buffet is not really clear although it must be high considering that we spend 50% more than the other reastaurant visits we had during our stay. Food was ok but not sensational. It is a pity that the terrace is small and in the shade in the autumn afternoon.

“Good meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2014

I was not very hungry so had a small plate from their antipasto buffet. As far as I understand in Italy you only get one serving of antipasto and the plate that is given to you is equivalent to our salad plate. There were many different vegetables available (all the dishes were at room temperature) and were tasty. My husband had pasta with clams and he enjoyed it. We sat outdoors and since the restaurant is on a street that does not get a lot of foot traffic, it was very pleasant. The service was excellent.

“Tradition counts and you enjoy this”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2014

I know this place since I was born. Now back after years with wife and children I found it juvenilized after grandfather to son and now the novel Gaetano running the place. They liberated the old heavy veranda and have built a new light ombrelloni veranda and it has gained elegance style and pleasure to dine outdoor in mid October! The food is traditional siracusan and fresh and perfectly cooked and brilliantly served with local kind flavor. Excellent wines and ricotta desserts.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2014

Prompted by the great TA reviews we had the first meal meal of our holiday here. My raw seafood starter was excellent as was Hubby's pasta but the mains of mixed grilled seafood and a swordfish dish were overcooked, dry and pretty tasteless. Waiter, who spoke excellent English, just shrugged his shoulders with an air of complete disinterest. The canollo I had for desert was really horrible. The bill, which included house wine, came in at €100 so not cheap. There are far better restaurants in Ortigia (eg, l'avante and Perbacco).

“Good time in Syracuse”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2014

Very enjoyable restaurant in Syracuse! We did eat inside as it was too hot for us outside. The fishes we had looked very fresh and were really well cooked. The owner was really friendly. The restaurant deserves a try definitely.
