“A curiosity”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

You can't miss that church. You see it everywhere you go in Syracuse. Once inside, the roof is impressive. But that's about it. Who knows, mayby in a few centuries, masses will come to visit this place like we do with older churches right now...

“bring your camera”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012

this is a working church, and in my opinion would be better used as something else, a bar or a really cool nightclub. the place was empty. there is a copy of the turin shroud there and the roof is majestical. you cant miss the place and it is a downhill walk from the archalogical park. free entry. adam budd

“Like the Gherkin in London, but worse.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

This is probably one of the worst carbuncles that I have seen to date. The building, in its modernistic style plagues the landscape of Syracruse. What were the designers thinking when they built it!

“Would not these very stones weep?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

If I was to say that I didn't like it? It has the potential to be a piece of East Berlin Communistic-era offence to the eye from the outside. Inside, it's quite different. The architecture is harmonious, appropriate, serene and prayerful. The only thing that spoils it is the presence of the aggressive gypsy beggers stalking the aisles.

“cavernous teardrop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2012

Built between 1966 and 1968, this church was designed by Michel Andrault and Pierre Parat asa reminder of "Lacrimazione della Madonna". Modelled on the shape of a teardrop, the building reaches a height of approximately 90m. It was commissioned to house a statue of the Virgin that allegedly wept for five days in 1953 and bestowed over 300 miraculous cures within a matter of months. It opened in 1994 (not sure why there was an almost 30 year delay?) and is a spectacular modern church whose soaring pinacle can be seen from almost all of the city.
