“perfect retreat ina rural surrounding close to syracuse”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2009

lady lusya is a italian mansion style hotel close to syracuse (10 km), located in a large lemon tree plant. it has a very nice pool, large clean rooms and is the perfect place to stay if you want to explore the southeast of sicily. the great cities of syracuse, noto, enna and piazza amerina are easily accessible. we spent there three nights and where overwhelmed by the place and the friendly staff

“what a terrible restaurant....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2008

The place was as we expected. The room was fine but the service not perfect for such kind of Hotel. All employees were kind and professional, but often not very efficient.
The main problem was the restaurant: modest food quality and choice, high price, terrible service (too much time to wait!).
Suggestion for the management: try to offer a complete package
including also a good food, given the reputation of Sicilian cuisine.

  • Liked — the building (nice old villa perfectly restored)
  • Disliked — the restaurant and the food

“Horrible Place and Disgusting Service”

It's one of the worst places I have been in my life. The pictures and the facilities on the website look fabulous but the owner and the manager are liars and they stole our money.
I booked for 16 people 2 months ago, I was supposed to be there saturday 28 (which means in two days) they took a copy of my credit card and today they have sent us an email saying that they couldn't have us anymore because the manager made a mistake.
I am furious now, they didn't apologise saying that they don't care about us as we are Italians and they make money with the tourists.......... so please tourists be careful, DO NOT GO there, it's a rip off.
Thanks
CG

“Nice hotel, great people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2007

We stayed at the Lady Lusya in November 2007. The hotel is situated in a a beautiful location in the middle of a citrus grove so very peaceful. The old building has been very nicely restored and presented. Our room was spacious, the ensuite was a little tired but no complaints about the accommodation. Breakfast is a simple buffet but the coffee is excellent. Dinner is a bit average and we tended to eat out in syracuse (where there are great seafood restaurants) or for pizza at a restaurant called Paper Moon in the local town of cassibile (excellent). The best thing about Lady Lusya was the staff, they are all very friendly and helpful, especially Antonio, the larger than life hotel manager. The owners of the hotel sourced some wonderful olive oil from a local farm for us, and we took home a litre or so given to us free of charge. A car is essential for this holiday and we racked up hundreds of miles on day trips to Etna and towns such as Taormina. This area of Sicily offers a real escape, expect great food and the need to speak Italian (we got by with a phrase book).

“Fifteen glorious days (and nights)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2007

Everything we expected and were promised and most reviewers have got it right. We booked a junior suite for ourselves -- a vast and very comfortable room with eerily silent but very effective air-con (42 degrees!!!) and our son had a single occupancy of a poolside room. Lusya and Piero, the owners, are delightful, and the whole team do everything they can to be helpful. Minor problems were dealt with instantly --- and I mean very minor. The location is ideal, and once the autostrada continues beyond Cassabile, the coastal road will be empty, so access to all the coastal towns/beaches will be a breeze. The restaurant is quiet, and service impeccable --- you pre-book your menu by around 5.30 so whoever wrote about a lack of antipasto was on a different planet. That said, with the plethora of restaurants in Syracuse, 20 minutes away, we did a lot of eating out. The outside facilities are superb, a great pool with a semi-separate shallow zone for little ones.

No hidden charges, no silly mark-ups on phone calls, no pool side rip-offs. Just quality hospitality and the perfect base for a great holiday.
