“Loved and hotel, our room, and the location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

This town - technically on the island of Ortigia, not Siracusa - is fabulous. You can walk everywhere, and the square directly behind the hotel is one of the best in Europe. And not crowded! Hotel Roma has a great location. Our room was huge and had a private terrace! Breakfast was not a highlight, but the service and central location really puts this place on the map.

We have stayed here 8 times and have never been disappointed. Staff are very helpful and efficient. We had a problem with our battery powered wheelchair engine. The battery charger had stopped working. The staff did their utmost to fix the problem. When that failed they found a charger which we could use, enabling us to keep using the engine for the final three days of our holiday.thank you Francesco and Luca and reception for all your help. Room 106 was large, comfortable and disabled friendly. We would definitely go back to Hotel Roma. Blair Thomson Glasgow.

I loved this hotel, the room was delightful - super decor and divinely comfortable bed, together with balcony overlooking a sweet lane brimming with character. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Highly recommended hotel in a convenient location.

I have stayed here 3 times now and it's because of it's perfect location. The staff are fabulous too. However, glasses of wine there are too expensive (great bar across the way) and the breakfast is useless - just needs some thought put into it. The markets are full of fabulous tomatoes so why not a bowl of some fresh tomatoes to match the great olive oil they place beside the scrambled eggs?

Room Tip: The square can be really noisy at weekends so request a courtyard room

Ortigia is the prettiest part of Siracusa, and the Hotel Roma is located at its centre, with the impressive cathedral round the corner and many lovely little restaurants within reach. The first evening we dined outside on great Sicilian food, though breakfasts were amongst the least varied and interesting in our tour of Sicily. We had two rooms, unexpectedly, so we slept in one of them and used the other as a changing room and somewhere to store the luggage. The bed, as I had come to expect was firm to the point of hardness but clean with good linen. My main gripe was the shower. The glass doors didn't fit properly and there must have been a broken seal as leaks occurred every time we showered. The service was great. We arrived by coach and the hotel organised out bags to be brought up separately and taxis were waiting to take us the short drive. Pleasant and efficient.

My stay here was completely uneventful, which is exactly what I wanted. The staff is excellent, the rooms were clean, the beds comfortable. As in all of Italy breakfast is not all that important so many guests might be disappointed, however eating and sipping your espresso on the piazza as Ortigia wakes up is a wonderful way to start your day.

I liked the location very much. Remember that parking and driving can be tricky on Ortigia.

I thought that Hotel Roma was by far the best hotel value in Italy.

Terrific location. Very good size light, airy bedroom and efficient, modern, very clean bathroom. Both better than expected for a city centre hotel. Very helpful staff, especially the porter who rescued our car which we abandoned when we got lost in the one way system ! The hotel parking was a great bonus. An excellent value hotel compared with the other central hotels we considered. A really good "find". The breakfast room is dreary but you can sit outside in the square, which is delightful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony overlooking the piazza.
