Ducks and trees are in the spring but cool to see it and learn about the history of this ancient spring.

“Not a must see”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

Strip away the history and myth. Ignore the interesting fact of a clear water spring yards from the sea and this is essentially a duck pond with rushes. It is very nice and picturesque and worth strolling by. Do stop and buy a Granita from the shop just beside. As part of a pleasant stroll down the west side of Ortigia this is worthwhile but if you are short for time then feel free to skip.

“Wasn't impressed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Ortigia has many attractions, but I was expecting more of Fonte Aretusa. This is just a fresh water spring and a pond in which Papyrus plants grow.

“My favourite spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

This is just a lovely part of Ortigia. It is a spring with very clear water, goldfish, papyrus and ducks. There are all sorts of legends attached to it but it is really just a nice spot. There are two good ice cream shops there!
