“Stylish and Stunning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Having read several positive reviews we were not disappointed! The warm welcome on arrival was notable. We were offered a most welcome cold drink and cake. What a lovely gesture! The emphasis is on style and high standards throughout. The owner takes pride in ensuring that her guests are treated well - nothing is too much trouble. The grounds of the hotel are stunning creating a relaxed atmosphere for your stay. Despite travelling without my family this time this hotel caters exceptionally well for families with young children. The breakfast was amazing and standards were again high! The evening meal was excellent and the staff were again attentive. My friend's gluten free dietry requirements were met fully. She says the bread rolls were the best gluten free ones she has tasted!! The visit was a special birthday treat......can't wait to visit again.

Dear guests,
I remember you and our chit chat really good! Thank you for writing this review that makes my staff and I really proud and happy. My father (dinner) and I (breakfast) take personally a lot of care of our cuisine so that our guests will not be disappointed.
We hope to welcome you again in Sicily especially in Borgo Pantano!
Warm regards from Guis and all of the team of Borgo Pantano.

We just arrived back after spending five days in this hotel. We have been to many hotels over the years but what makes Borgo Pantana special is the friendliness of the staff. From the people at the reception to the cleaning ladies and the staff at breakfast. Always with a smile they try to accommodate any special request. Breakfast was fantastic with a lot of choice on the breakfast buffet with home made cakes and croissants every morning. The kids loved the pool that was fantastically layed out surrounded by a huge area of grass with lots of various chairs and tables. There was never a problem to find your own space with shade. The owner was very personal and greated us every morning, and you can definitely feel that her personal touch is rflected i all the small details across the board. The rooms were nicely modern decorated. The location is great about 15 min drive to Siracusa which itself is a wonderful city with lots of restaurants, bars and ice-cream places. Also very beautiful at night to stroll around and good shopping for those who want. Overall a fantastic place for family/couples and group of friends as this hotel truly caters for all different needs. We will definitely be back here!!!! Thanks for a fantastic time at your hotel.

Room Tip: Better to call and speak directly to the hotel reservation when booking as there seem to be a glitch...

I trusted tripadvisor ratings and booked Borgo Pantano for 3 nights. Unfortunately my first booking through "dertour" was confirmed first, but then cancelled by the hotel 2 weeks later due to overbooking. I then tried again through expedia/Hotels.com and was able to book a suite for a very high price. That again was confirmed an again cancelled a few days later. I was furious and talked directly to the hotel. They apologized in a very friendly manner, arranged for us a room for two nights and helped to organize one night al "il Podere". (That was awful). So, a lot of reasons to fee l bad about the place. However, once we arrived there we were totally charmed by the friendliness and personal service, about the nice hotel, the marvellous pool area, the lunch restaurant and- in the evening - the superbe restaurant on the roof terrace. Great place. Highly recommended. Kids will love the pool!

We arrived on 23rd June after a terrible ten hours of a journey including flight and baggage delays to be given a warm welcome and a cool drink. We left on 7th July feeling relaxed and happy. Our suite was spacious and just as ordered- we asked for ground floor and a bathroom as I am disabled and we got both. The black and white colour scheme was tasteful, the bed comfortable and the aircon efficient. We had no trouble finding the hotel with the satnav, although there were also plenty of signs. The hotel proved an excellent base for our explorations of the eastern side of Sicily, up as far as Taormina and Castelmola and down as far as Cape Passero. We also went inland as far as Enna and saw the fabulous Roman Villa at Casale.. Our only disappointment was driving to Bronte and finding the manor house shut. Our favourite had to be Siracusa itself, we could drive and park right in the centre of Ortygia withe my blue badge and we went there frequently. The hotel pool was a cool place to retreat to after a day out and the restaurant was cooperative in providing vegetarian meals. Thanks are due to all the wonderful staff.

Dear lovely guests,
Thank you so much for this wonderful review! We are really happy to read that after your terrible flight you left Borgo Pantano relaxed and satisfied! It's just a pleasure for us to help our vegetarian guests to fulfill their wishes and continue their eating habbits also during their holiday.
We wish you all the best!
Giusi, myself and all of the Staff send you a lot of smiley greetings!

To be fair - I usually stay at Hilton, Hyatt, or other properties which are basically guaranteed to be at a level that is appropriate to the cost. My wife and I had a three day window in our 19 day vacation in Sicily (still on it) and needed to burn three days in between the Hilton Giardini Nexos and rental property in Cefalu. We chose this hotel based on reviews. Frankly as I sit in this house now in Cefalu, I wish I had stayed.

Everything thing at this hotel is run extremely well and above board. It is a historic house / farm that has been turned into a top notch hotel. I want to give a special mention to Sylvia at the front desk - she was who greeted us when we checked in. My three kids adored her. The rooms were well done and clean. The dinner we had there for two of the three nights was well done and features traditional Sicilian fare. The staff at dinner was outstanding and engaged as well as personal and did not mind spending some time chatting which I can do all day. Oh yes - a decent wine list as well and the deserts are fresh and with good variety.

The facilities are excellent as well with an outstanding pool. One of the best I have seen in a while. The guests are from countries across the world which made it dynamic and they were all polite as well - this place was worth every penny. I can't think of one thing that I did not like and I am known to be critical.

Finally - it is outside of Syracuse so plan for a taxi - no more than 10 minutes to the old center or bring a car.

Thanks for a wonderful visit!

We have just spent 9 days at this slightly quirky hotel just outside Syracusa. Quirky because at this standard it is usually the 'chain' types of hotel which predominate and this most definitely does not resemble a 'chain'. We have been to boutique, fashionable, 'Philip Stark', 'exclusive' and suchlike hotels - but Borgo Pantano IS different.

Why? Because, customer service is paramount and personal for every member of staff; because every day all the wee things which make a difference are put into place - the hammocks between the orange trees, the towels on the grass with the cushions, the dozens of citronella candles around the grounds every night, the pastries on the bar counter appearing late afternoon, the candles all around the courtyards, the seamles movement of the poolside furniture for the frequent glorious outdoor weddings and then back in the morning as if nothing had happened the night before, and so on.

The junior suite we were in had been designed in this 'quirky' context and really works as as upmarket and comfortable space.

As everyone else has said, breakfast are as good as any, including some of the five stars we have stayed in (e.g. the great Gleneagles in Scotland), dinners are changed daily (in part) and are of a high and consistent standard. Above all, as we said, the quality and values of the service draw you into enjoying this experience. Nothing is too much.

Well done Borgo Pantano, you have made it work so well for your customers and you provide a hugely relaxing and inclusive environment for all who step through your white gates.

David

Dear David,

What a wonderful review, thank you so much for that! We appreciate it a lot, your discription gives a good idea of our structure and the way we work...
To read that you find our breakfast a big surplus and equal in quality as excellent hotel's you've been in the past is only an honour for us... especially for our owner that dedicates her own time in organizing it...
Once again a big thank you from myself, Giusi and all of our staff members... we hope to see you again in the future...
Take care and sunny greetings from Sicily.

As mentioned in the many other great reviews, this hotel is something special. The welcome, room, service, food - all excellent. The pool and grounds are beautifully maintained with plenty of space to relax. The staff and management have achieved the perfect balance between a personal, friendly approach and outstanding, professional efficiency.
There are many places of interest within easy reach including Ortigia/Syracusa, Noto, Ragusa and Modica as well as many beaches. New signage has made the hotel easy to find from Syracusa South junction.
We have already recommended unreservedly Il Borgo Pantano to friends and family and hope to make a return visit.
Thanks to Guisi and her lovely team for a great week.
