“Perfect Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

Quite simply superb. A real haven. The owners have created a wonderfully stylish, light, bright and modern hotel in a traditional Sicilian setting, with delightfully calm and spacious grounds and pool.  We found the whole experience terrific. The staff are so friendly and welcoming – they really seemed to want you to thoroughly enjoy your stay at the hotel – which we did!! The restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced too. Highly, highly recommended. "

This is a very pleasant hotel. It is located away from the old town, in a very quiet place, on large grounds in the country. Though a little hard to find, it is worth the effort. (you get a detailed description of how to get there). The rooms are large and nicely furnished with modern ameneties. The beds are very comfortable. Breakfast is excellent, The atmosphere is very pleasant, and the people at the reception are very nice and helpful.

Borgo Pantano is a beautiful countryside retreat, about 20 minutes by car  from Syracusa's old town: Ortigia. Although it wasn't the easiest of places to find - once off the autostrada the roads are generally narrow, pot-holed and poorly sign posted - it was well worth the 3 hour drive from Palermo.

The hotel has very friendly, polite and helpful staff, especially at reception - they were always willing to give directions and helpful information.

The hotel is set in very spacious grounds, with lots of comfortable courtyard seating areas, where you can enjoy a drink, good book and the sunshine. I particularly liked the kumquat bushes in one of the coutryards. There is a large pool area, with sunloungers, day beds and outdoor sofas, as well as a pool bar.

The self-service breakfast was very copious and offered an excellent range of foods. It was nice to be able to have breakfast outdoors on the terrace. Another nice touch was the fact that free cakes and sweets were always available in reception for sweet-toothed guests.

The rooms are very nice: modern, clean, and comfortable. The bed was large and very relaxing and the rooms are served by wifi internet access. However, our room might have benefited from more soundproofing as you could hear the motorway traffic in the early morning and evening, although this was not a big problem at all. In addition, just as a very minor point, our showerhead was not as clean as it might have been.

We ate dinner twice at the restaurant which was very good, serving tasty local cuisine. The 30€ menu was good value and provided more than enough food to keep even the largest of appetites happy.

It was nice to find a wide range of guests and ages at Borgo Pantano, and everyone was well catered for, the hotel and its grounds being large enough not to feel crowded. We used the Spa one morning; the massage was very relaxing but quite expensive overall. The games room has some exercise machines, a Wii console and table tennis, for those feeling energetic.

All in all, we were very happy with our stay and really did feel relaxed and as if we had 'got away from it all'. We hope to come back again.

P.S. One evening we visited the Agrimilo Agriturismo near Cannicattini - hotel reception had booked for us and we were warmly welcomed on arrival. We were shown around the farm animals and ate some great, home cooked, typically Sicilian dishes. Really worth a visit and excellent value - €25 pp for 4 course meal including wine and guided tour.

Room Tip: 122 seems to be very popular.

we stayed here for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.it's a very calm location, with lovely rooms and beautiful grounds. The team were unfazed by our failure to arrive until 10 pm in the evening, Silvia the receptionist impressed with her ability to shift from language to language, and the limoncello is aso very well worth the trip!

We've just spent 5 nights here and from start to finish could not have been made more welcome by the owners, manager and all the staff - all were charming, friendly and helpful. Rooms good; grounds (including swimming pool) attractive with plenty of room for everyone to find their own space; food in restaurant freshly prepared, locally sourced and appropriately Italian / Sicilian; breakfasts exceptionally good. We had hesitated over whether to stay in Syracuse itself or just outside: we're so pleased we made the decision to stay here. We were a little anxious about finding the hotel but in fact had little difficulty, and there is no problem at all once you have found it for the first time. Plenty of interesting things to do from here - we've already identified another week's worth of excursions we'd like to do another time. Younger couples, families with children and older guests (we went with my parents) all seemed very happy to be staying at Borgo Pantano.

This is a lovely hotel that exceeded our expectations. Very peaceful location and spacious grounds but a little difficult to find. Friendly staff. When we arrived, I asked for a massage appointment and they managed to squeeze me in. Unfortunately, we were only there for one night. We would have enjoyed staying longer.

We had a wonderful stay at Borgo Pantano. The hotel is out in the countryside with very spacious grounds, a terrific swimming pool area, plenty of space to sit around it but also seats in small courtyards and gardens (and a hammock). The staff were very welcoming and helpful, everyone greeted us when we passed and constantly cheerful. There were lovely pastries when we arrived in the afternoon, the dinner menu changed each night so we had no problem eating there on each of the four nights we stayed and the breakfasts were better than anything we have experienced elsewhere in Italy. We had a great time and would go back. We had one of our children with us and the room had a lovely double bedroom and also a living room that made an equal sized second bedroom. Overall a really good hotel and we have stayed in quite a few places around Europe. Siracusa was a pleasant town and the hotel guide we received when we arrived provided all the necessary information on where to park, what to see, what beaches to visit. Other highlights were Noto, and the marvellous mosaics in the Villa del Tellaro.
