If you enjoy archeology, then the hotel is well situated for both the museum and the big Greco- Roman site. Hotel is also well.located for the modern basilica but having visited all three sites of interest, I would leave the area. There is nothing near the hotel at night,no tourists, no restaurants (of which more later) no shops.
The hotel itself is mainly very good. Yes horrible outside. Our room faced a noisy main road and an ugly graffitied wall but inside all was good: spacious, good bathroom and toiletries. Wifi reception is patchy and the worst of it is that every time you lose it you need to reenter the 16 digit password.( My iPad refused to remember it but husband's Nexus 7 did)
I thought the breakfast was very good. Many choices both savoury eg boiled eggs, bacon, sausages, three kinds of cheese and sweet, eg yoghurt, apple cake, carrot cake, banana cake and plenty of fresh fruit.
Staff were very pleasant, especially Giuseppe.
Just outside is a good basic pizza place, very busy with locals. There is also a Bar Teocrito which was poor and very expensive with an unexpected 20% service charge, one to avoid. Otherwise nothing near .
If you like to sleep with the window open, ask fora room that does not face the busy main road.
