“Absolutely Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013 for a stay in October 2013

The apartment was located perfectly. It was possible to walk to all the main sights and was also perfectly positioned for the Airport Shuttle. There were numerous restaurants and bars nearby and within easy walking distance. The apartment was well equipped and had everything we needed- It was clean and much larger than I expected- Antonello was the perfect landlord and was helpful with local information about shopping and trips that we may enjoy. We had an issue picking up the key but it was entirely of my own making. I was phoning the wrong number

“Clean and Central Holiday Apartment for a Happy Stay in Palermo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013 for a stay in October 2013

The Owner (Antonello) had been so helpful via emails before we arrived that we felt we had a friend in Sicily already! He had sent us maps and we knew it was only a 5 minute walk from the bus stop to the flat. The airport shuttle bus was easy to use and once we got off in Palermo we found the road we were staying on easily. Antonello then spotted us at the end of the street and came out to meet us!

There was a key to the front door of the block, and Antonello showed us up to the second floor where we would be staying. The flat then had a double lock, and he gave us keys to the flat and to the main door so we could come and go as we wished. He showed us round, and was so helpful, giving us a detailed street map and highlighting places of interest and useful stuff such as the supermarket. There was a lift which was useful when we had our cases, but we didn't use it the rest of the time as it was too small for my liking! I'm sure there was nothing wrong with it, though!

The flat was very clean and spacious - easily big enough for the two of us, but would be good for two couples. It has two double bedrooms, a sitting room, small kitchen and bathroom, plus extra things you may need like an iron and hair dryer. There is a TV in the sitting room with hundreds of channels (all in Italian except a couple in French).

The supermarket was only a 5 minute walk away, so we stocked up on everything we needed there. At first we made the mistake of going at 3pm, however, and then found out it didn't open for the afternoon until 4pm. This is common with shops here.

The flat is perfectly positioned for getting buses - just 5 minutes walk and you are at the bus stop for heading to Mondello, a lovely beach town which is a 20 minutes ride. Further afield is Cefalu, which we visited twice. This is an hour on the train, but well worth a visit, and buses to the train station are frequent. We walked it to the station instead, getting a real feel for Palermo life as we negotiated the bustling streets!

We felt perfectly safe in the city both in the day and at night. As long as you are careful with your money and possessions, as you would be in any city, there is no need to worry. We found so many people willing to try and help when we asked for directions or advice.

The apartment was right in the heart of the city, and so of course it was noisy when we had the windows open onto the balcony. And at night you could hear the families living in the surrounding flats. I was ok with my ear plugs in, but I am a very light sleeper! My husband was disturbed occasionally by noisy people on the floor above us, but overall it was no noisier than you'd expect when you are in the middle of a major city.

If you want to truly experience life as a city dweller in Palermo, this is the perfect place to stay. Everything we needed was close by, including a chemists, supermarket, cake shop, ice cream shop, Mac Donald's!! And as I've said, buses to the airport, beaches, train station are close by too. We would definitely recommend this wonderful apartment, and having such a friendly and helpful host made our stay all the more enjoyable! Thank you Antonello!

“Good location and equipment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

Casa Elisa - quite small and noisy, but well equipped and clean. I can recommend it for singles or just two persons. Good for overnight, but too small for anything else. We also stayed two nights in Casa Soliva, which is much bigger and nicer apartment. This one is an ideal choice even for a group of 3-4 persons. Anyway, our host Antonello was very kind and helpful.

Casa Elisa is a jewel of modern interior design and it is carefully furnished and attention for details, very comfortable and it was appreciated also from families of 4 persons that have stayed for more than a week. The apartment has 4 real sleeps: a double bed and a very comfortable double sofa bed with a real double mattress
The apartment, such as Casa Soliva, is located in a quiet street in central Palermo.

“Wonderful central area in Palermo near to everything”

Clean & homey! Antonello is a delight and helps you understand where and how to get places from this fabulous hub of this great city! Casa Soliva is within walking distance of local busses that will take you to any local sightseeing area, as well as day-tour busses! Casa Soliva is a short walk to the great Teatro Massimo (try to book a performance; it's amazing). We were within walking distance to the beautiful Politeano Square, many very wonderfully delightful outdoor markets where you can buy everything from the most amazing fruits & vegetables, clothes, trinkets, fish and meat! Walk to the fabulous shopping area that You will Thoroughly enjoy, as well as some of the most beautiful churches and some of Sicily's most beautiful architecture! My review would be lacking without another mention of Antonello, who does whatever he can to make your stay wonderful!,he has such a great Sicilian heart! Speaking of beautiful Sicilian hearts, visit the meat store on the corner (Carni) who's owner is a delight; not feeling well, go to the homeopathic pharmacy 1 block away and the staff (don't miss meeting beautiful Sarah) will patiently take care of your needs with patience and caring! Close-by is a supermarket whose employees are happy to help! What can I say other than if you want to feel and share the sunshine of the beautiful Sicilian heart (even on the rainiest of days) Casa Soliva is the place to stay!

“Beautiful flat in the center of Palermo”

Antonello is a very gracious and helpful host. He even offered to collect us from our bus stop on the evening that we arrived. He was extremely attentive and the flat is immaculately kept. We did find that both of the double beds were extremly hard and it would have been nice to have comfy seating in the lounge for all four of us not just a two seater sofa. However, everything else about the flat was great. The flat is in a central location just off of Politieama and everything you need is on your doorstep.

I would like to specify that both mattresses are new and many previous guests found them very comfortable.
I desire to clear up also that, as it's possible to see in the pictures, in the living room besides the sofa there are also 4 chairs around a table and in the adjacent entrance it's available an armchair.

“Perfect base to explore Palermo”

This is a very well equipped, spacious apartment, in an excellent position just off Politeama Square in central Palermo. Great transport links, eg the bus to and from the airport is nearby, and it is easy to walk to all the main areas of the 'centro historico'. The owner, Antonello, was charming and very welcoming. I would highly recommend this flat, which is exactly as described in the details. There is also a garage just next door if you are brave or stupid enough to try hiring a car and driving in Palermo (car hire in nearby via mariana stabile) Terrifying...and if you arrive without hitting another car, you won't be able to park.
