Palermo was a one day cruise stop for our group of 12 friends from the United States. Patrizia's English is excellent and she gave us a wonderful peek into her city that most tourists will not experience. We walked through two busy markets full of fish, produce and spices. We asked lots of questions about foods we had never seen (like 4-foot long zucchini). We also learned in a fun conversational way as we walked, about the city's history, arts and principal cathedrals. Understanding the history of the city helped us learn to love it though her eyes. Imagine our surprise when our tour ended in a private residence in the historic district. We were treated to a multi-course meal (which included local wine and a heavenly dessert) provided by our guide, her husband Alfredo and their college bound daughter. There was much kitchen laughter and cultural exchange as the final touches were put on our wonderful meal. My friends and I were in Europe for two weeks and this day was definitely the most memorable because of our time with this lovely family in their home. You will not regret your decision to take a SicilianDays Tour. Thanks so much Patrizia and Alfredo!
