“Very pleased with our stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

My wife and I had important business in Palermo on Sept 9th. We came to Palermo from Catania which is a 2 1/2 hr drive, so we choose to stay 2 nights before returning.
When we arrived on the 8th, we were met by the proprietor Luca who helped us find a parking place and bring the luggage inside.
Our room was nice, not big but adequate. The bed quite comfortable.
Luca was helpful in arranging a cab to pick us up the next morning to take us to our place of business. We called him when it was time to return and he called the cab which came and got us.
He was very helpful in recommending places to eat and providing directions out of Palermo when it came time to leave. Luca speaks adequate English and my wife pretty good Italian so we were able to communicate very well with him.
The buffet breakfasts are the best we have had in Sicily (for a B&B) and we have been to many in our 7yrs that we have lived there. We were especially impressed with the very cheerful young woman who served us .
We enjoyed Palermo a lot as there are many fine small restaurants that are reasonably priced and not far from Ai Vicere.
I think the value for the price is excellent and I plan to return in a month or so when I come to Palermo to complete my business .
We do highly recommend Al Vicere...

We stayed at the Ai Vicere B&B for 5 nights during the month of September. We chose this particular one because of all the positive feedback on Hostelworld.com (mainly 100% satisfaction) and the previous reviews found here.

First of all, it is indeed very well located, near the beautiful Teatro Massimo, right in between the old historical town and the more modern part of town, so close to everything by foot basically. Even though the street may seem dodgy at first and not very well lit, it is very safe at night and the B&B is easy to find, so no problem there.

According to past reviews, the hosts were very welcoming, extremely helpful and quite hospitable. Well we didn’t get quite the same feeling, we found the hosts (and I’m positive we are talking about the same ones) awkward, evasive and just plain indifferent. Not once did the host make the effort to speak any other language than Italian when he could clearly see that we didn’t comprehend what he was saying. How did he manage with past guests?? Not only that, but he barely smiled, looked you in the eye or said anything! And on top of it all, he was never there!! I’ve never been to a B&B in which, night and day, there is no one at the front desk (keep in mind, we were up early morning and asleep late at night).

Nevertheless, the room we were given was quite comfortable, AC, double bed, bathroom en suite, etc. (despite the view of the water tanks and the lack of light). But on the 4th day, the host asks us if we mind changing rooms without any explanation, he just needs us to change rooms. We are moved to a bleak, awful room with a roaring AC, so loud you can barely hear yourself think or talk and no bathroom en suite (which is what we paid for might I add). When we protested (on the phone because of course he wasn’t physically present), he stated he had a problem with the initial room and couldn’t give it back to us. What problem? Who knows! After much debating, we were finally moved to another more decent room but would not forget that very uncomfortable episode. It was very awkward and I would not wish anyone to be put in that position, especially with such an un-talkative person! Also, I don’t understand how people could say this person was helpful when he couldn’t even answer any of our basic questions. And don’t be fooled by the breakfast, it’s all supermarket bought and nothing is homemade.

So all in all, I don’t know whether we were unlucky or not but I cannot say I recommend this place.

Hi Dayle!

The host Luca and his mother and sister very friendly and helpful.Very good location, the street a bit noisy at night though because of ground floor but overall very clean, good bed and excellent breakfast! I recommend getting there from the airport by bus and not train as train station is a too far away.I would definitelly come back

Great location, nice owner, solid breakfast, quiet and safe. The buliding is easy to find, its just behind Teatro Massimo in a safe street where you can park your car which you won't be needing during your stay in a beautiful city of Palermo. Don't miss the Puppet Theatre in the near.

We had the room with a separate private bathroom. What they don't say is that the bedroom and bathroom are separated by the breakfast room!! So it is a little inconvenient if you wake up
late! It also meant we couldn't have a lie in as it was quite noisy in the morning. The room was nice though and had a small terrace outside. Luca was very friendly; the only problem we had was trying to contact him to arrange a taxi to take us to the airport early morning - he was not in and we couldn't get through on the phone. We sorted it out ourselves in the end but if we had had an emergency where we needed to contact him, I am not sure what we would have done. If you are looking for clean, no frills
accommodation, this is a great place to stay.

Ai Vicere it's the best place you have to choose if you are going to visiting Palermo. Really nearby the city center (about 200mt to Teatro Massimo); clean rooms; good breakfast; very kind Luca and his staff; warm welcome; good advices from the staff about sightseeing and the other point of interest to fill your holidays here.
Cheaper.

We will come back as soon as possible!
