Okay - it wasn't terrible - but it certainly wasn't okay either! One star is all they get for not being any where near a 4star hotel (Hotel Jolly is far superior - wished we had gone there).
Some of the staff were rather unfriendly indeed - a distinct lack of respect for the tourist (a very clear message encountered all over Plaermo).
They put us in a room behind the lift (418 - don't accept it!) - which made bangs and loud noises all through the night. Bizarrely, the room had double-double glazing - which kept the outside noise out - but kept the inside noise in! Without our earplugs we would have never have slept at all.
The hotel also caters for coach tours - so at 6.00am every morning - yet more noise up and down corridors as yet more ignorant people decided to do their thing!
The hotel never kept any promises made to us in the morning upon our complaining. During our 5 day stay - the air conditioning was turned off to suit them (not us). They failed twice to deliver to our room a mini-bar list - so we gave up asking and were unable to know what anything cost, and unable to write it down if we did.
They promised to convert the restaurant menu one evening into English for my partner - a strict vegan - but again that never materialised - and no-one seemed to know what we were talking about later that evening. We ended up being offered directions to another restaurant from a very moody desk attendant who didn't want to spare us the time to get our communication across!
Though not their fault (and not something I ever demand from a foreign establishment) - making ourselves understood with our poor Italian and their poor English was a real struggle. We failed on many occasions - so don't go here unless you speak fluent Italian - then you might be successful with your complaints.
And finally - the buffet breakfast which is reputedly the best in Palermo? Rubbish! Lukewarm hot water for both tea and coffee - the cheapest quality cereals, almost unedible - and one plate of ham, one of a single choice of cheese, and some bread stuffs. Pretty awful actually - couldn't face it in the end.
Location - is on the edge of everything - a solid 20-25 mins walk from Central Station - but not bad.
I paid 80 euros a night on a good deal - but believe me - it's not worth it. Go elsewhere...
Very dispapointed. the room was styled circa 1970 the bath although had a shower it had no curtain so the floor was wet all the time t also had nowhere to hang shower head so had to hold. no side lights by the bed so overhead flourescent light very strong. horrible view of docks.
breakfast OK. if you can find somewhere else stay there.
This is a clean and perfectly adequate run of the mill hotel. It may be slightly out of the way for some but otherwise , it is a 10-15 min to centre of the townSituated on the harbour front, it overlooks the busy ferry port .The sea and distant hills provide a more scenic view.
