“Perfect Budget Digs!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

Arrived early on a Rick Steve's tour. Impeccably clean and comfortable centrally located, locally owned and run, modest 3 star hotel somewhat past it's peak grandeur. Note the gorgeous marble staircase and tiny added on elevator. AC and bath above basic standard. Bed comfortable with good linens. Fridge with drinks in room and reasonably priced. Free wifi worked great in 311, a single room with more than adequate space and a safe to store valuables. Breakfast also very good and above standard with great service and a fantastic barista making made to order coffee drinks that put Starbucks to shame. Terrific budget digs!!'

Room Tip: Stayed in a single, 311. Had great bathtub to soak my weary body after 8 hour coach flight!

We were glad to have a room to return to in the heat of the day which was well air conditioned. the staff were friendly, and helpful, the breakfast room a real delight. We also had our own balcony (two chairs in the rom, rather than one, would have been nice, so we could both sit on the balcony at once!).
wifi worked well.
The whole hotel was in good condition.
Not exceptional - but really perfectly fine and good value.

My friend and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in August 2010. We paid 59Euros per night, not bad considering location, service and the decency of the hotel. Our room was pretty standard (comfy bed, decent view and plenty of room - we lucked out). The bathroom was really nice with modern updates (by western standards). The location was GREAT and central to everything. We literally walked to all the main points. Service was wonderful; staff was very helpful, kind and very accommodating. They gave us great recommendations for everything including local dining spots outside of the main center which were about a 20 min walk but very well worth it! We enjoyed comp breakfast (traditional Italian) which was plentiful and kept us full until lunch (we took hand fruit and packaged goodies with us to snack on in case we got hungry before lunch). There is a lounge area equipped with PC's for internet. Good news, the hotel has a lift so you do not have to lug your belongs up long flights of stairs (which are notorious in old-world European buildings - albeit beautiful)!!

I'm a stickler for great service even when I am not staying at a 5star property and I must say I certainly got it here! Overall, I would stay at this hotel again. It's decent, very clean, centrally located, safe and good value for what u get along with helpful/friendly staff; all the main ingredients that makes for a pleasant stay on foreign territory. What else could a traveler need?!

We stayed here at the in Mid June. The location was great but very noisy at night which is to be expected from a city centre hotel.
The staff Giovanni and Salvatore were very nice and helpful. But the hotel is only OK because the bathrooms are not the standard i expect , the shower is very feeble and bathroom is very cramped.
We had two rooms and in both rooms the toilet seat was not attached to the toilet. On 3 occassions the AC started leaking and my husband had to empty it into the toilet.
Breakfast was Ok but they ran out of croissants and rolls by 9am. There is only one company that does a trip to Etna it costs 85 euros and they pick you up from your hotel.

We stayed in the hotel because it was chosen by a tour in which we were participating. We arrived several days early to get more exposure to Palermo than our tour would provide and to recover from our lengthy plane trip. The price we then received was very good. The breakfast is slightly better than that we normally had on 12 days in Sicily. Andreina at the front desk was one of the most helpful people we encountered in such a position. It was such a comfortable place to sleep that we slept for 12 hours on our first day there. One thing to watch out for is that in both of the rooms we had, it was necessary to step up and down on entering and exiting the bathroom. Also, the walls are extremely thick and steel doors are used on the bedrooms. This meant that the free WiFi would not function on a fourth floor room. One can solve this problem by using the small sitting room on the first floor. The WiFi worked well in a second room we later used on the third floor.

Room Tip: Both of the rooms we had were adequate. I would avoid a room on the first floor as guests in the sit...

We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed everything about this hotel. Andreina at the front desk was wonderful. She recommended a restaurant our first night and it was so good we went there again on our last night. The breakfast buffet was excellent and so was the location of the hotel. I want to thank Andreina was translating my grandmother's birth certificate and we actually found the street where she was born.

I stayed one night before joining a tour group, and we returned for our final night. Giovanni and other reception staff are friendly and eager to please. Basic, clean room, comfortable bed. Double window blocked street noise, which was minimal. Other reviews are right-on about location, within walking distance to many sites and restaurants. A single traveler, I felt safe at all times, and there are buses for more distant sites. Gianni, the barista, was a gem with a big smile, ready to bring cappuccino to your table. Take a stab at speaking even a little Italian, and watch for a bigger smile. Decent, satisfying breakfast choices for every appetite and diet. Computer is available to check emails. A/C at your fingertips, and quiet. Elevator or stairs...you decide. Not a fancy hotel, but speaking as an economy traveler, I feel that you do get a good value for your money ...comfort, service and good location. I'd gladly return on a future trip.

Room Tip: My third-floor room faced a small side alley, but overall, street noise was not a problem.
