L'Ottava Nota is directly opposite the popular apartments at 28 Via Butera. Guests at the apartments receive a 10% discount card as part of the welcome pack. My advice would be to use it! We were only in Palermo for 5 days but managed to have dinner here twice. It is an elegant, modern room with a charming waiter. The star attraction is the innovative and imaginative food. The table is set with scrumptious green olive tapenade with home made bread to start. It is so difficult to resist overindulging in this before the meal especially as the bread and tapenade is regularly replenished!
During our meals we sampled delicious sea urchins in a salad with king prawns, deep fried squid stuffed courgette flowers that I would die for, fabulous steak, gorgeous steak tartare, amazing olive oil ice cream and much more. The waiter suggested the wines and they were delightful and modestly priced.
The place is busy but only much later at night say 10pm and later, as Palermans keep Spanish hours. To go early is to dine in solitary splendour.
