WE stayed three nights at the Villa İgiea. The hotel is a converted estate,Europe's first spa hotel where royalty and famous politicians stayed in the early 20th Century. The building is beautiful with spectacular sea view, nostalgic gardens ,good bar and a great restaurant.
Although we arrived in very low season,we were given a street view noisy room ,which was a great pity..the hotel had only a total of 7-8 rooms occupied..
The reception staff and the conscierge should definitely receive some training covering subjects such as "hospitality basics" and " better communication"...
The staff at the restaurant and bar were competent, courteous and welcoming.
Such a nice venue could do with some maintenance and improved customer relations.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with sea view or garden view.Refuse to stay in rooms with street view(noise!).

The Villa Igiea is set on an impressive villa, and the first impressions are very good. However as one has a bit more time the small details begin to surface. Staff is helpful and friendly, and the breakfast is very good, but then again you shouldn't expect less for the price. On the negative side, the building, which must be very expensive to maitain, is showing its age. For me what really lets it down is the location, which is too close to the port and if you want to go for a walk the surrounding area will put you off very quicly - it is certainly not a nice neighbourhood.

We stayed 2 nights at the villa Igiea in Palermo. The room was amazingly large and comfortable. We had a view onto the bay which was spectacular. The breakfast buffet served outside was out of a dream.

The entire experience of this Hotel was just terrific.

It is a bit out of town but the beauty of the facility makes up for the inconvenience.

A converted grand estate, Villa Igiea is a five star hotel outside Palermo. You're probably going to need one - Palermo is chaotic and dirty, and anyone from northern Europe or the US is going to feel very disorientated by the experience. Villia Igiea has great rooms (get one facing the sea); beautiful gardens, ideal for a calm wander round, a great bar and an alright restaurant, and some lovely public rooms with real charm and history. The website does not do the place justice.

A couple of words of warning: if you go out of season (i.e. 1 November til it starts up again), the shuttle bus service to the centre of town is withdrawn (a shame, since it's a life saver - the walk into town is horrid, and taxis cost EUR15), the pool is unstaffed, and the little bar next to it is closed. BUT - the hotel is half empty, which means the excellent breakfast isn't a rush, the staff have time for you, and the whole thing feels much more like you're a guest in a rather good country house.

Philip, the head concierge, is simply excellent.

Frankly, if we hadn't been staying there, we'd have gone mad in the first few days, and probably moved there anyhow. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the sea. The ones facing the garden are as good, and cheaper, but the sea views ar...

The hotel has an incredible location and is a magnificent building. The rooms are clean and spacious and the housekeeping staff are very helpful. The only negative was the very poor service in the restaurant and cafe made worse by the majority of the staff's inability to speak English.
