We decided to eat at Il Baro when in Palermo, due to the rave reviews it had on Trip Advisor. It is quite a bit out of town so we walked the 20 minutes from Politeama. Service was very friendly and the menu had very good English descriptions.
We got the Delicio de Mediterraneo for starter which was just a tough octopus dish, without many flavors. Pizza was really good though and I think this is where Il Baro excels. Really tasty bases! I was expecting more fresh dishes, sea bream w/ pistachio was nice, but nothing special.
Overall value wasn't great, at €60 but we did have a beer, wine and Limoncello.
Tbh, I think the expectations were set too high due to the TA reviews. It's a decent neighbourhood pizzeria, but there are better and more reasonable places closer to Quattro Canti - like Pizzeria Frida, on Piazza Sant'Onofrio.
