“Worst wine ever!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013 via mobile

We went here last Thursday night as we arrived into Palermo quite late and it was very close to our hotel. They had no wine list so we ordered the house red and white - the white was semi drinkable but the red was like vinegar - which would have been useful for the mixed anti-pasti we ordered - we asked for 3 mixed plates, expecting lovely meats and vegetables, you can imagine the shock when we got 3 bowls of chips with a couple of bits of fried bread and croquettes thrown into the bowl (not even 1each) - very disappointing so our expectations weren't too high for the pizza - luckily this redeemed things slightly as the pizza was good. Otherwise a pretty disappointing experience given the many other options for great food in the area I'd give this one a miss

“best service and food in Palermo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013 via mobile

after bad experience with another restaurant the previous day in Palermo my wife and I found this restaurant via tripadvisor in the hotel vicinity.
A lady (probably restaurant owner) took all our wishes and requests very kindly and courteous though limited english skills and gave us the first time in Sicily the impression being welcome.
I had again an eggplant pizza with onions - here my impression:
1. Dough: nice, good taste and consistency. Slightly backed too long.
2. Toppings: grilled eggplants in thin slices - tasty, well prepared and also sufficient amount. Enough onions also well prepared.
3. Service: best we had in Sicily. Very friendly and attentive.
4. Size: average - I had larger ones before.
5. Price: average - 2€ off for take away.

My wife had pesto pasta with shrimps. She liked it a lot - great pasta, taste and cooking (not soft). Also amount was very satisfying. We will come again!!

“Ups and Downs”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

The Al Covo Dell'Arte is a strange restaurant. It has a very nice menu covering typical sicilian food but also interesting and fancy dishes. On the other hand, it offers no wine menu but only a white and a red house whine that is rather bad. The food is served on elegant china and the glasses are beautiful. At the same time, the café at the end is served in plastic cups.
This contrast echos in the food. The antipasti were mostly very nice, two have even been incredibly well flavored, only one fish dish was a littly too sour. The primi piati have also been very delicious. The dessert however has been incredibly bad. The semi-freddo we ordered was nearly inedible.
With a proper wine menu, proper café cups, and a slightly more constant quality of the dishes this restaurant could be an absolute highlight in Palermo.

“Amazing food!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

We ate here on our last night in Palermo and were simply swept off our feet. I have rarely tasted anything this good!
I initially took the Fettuccine with the asparagus and almonds, but what they forgot to mention in the description was that the dish is made with cream, which I don't like, so I switched with my boyfriend... and boy was that good! It was a shorter pasta called Casarecce with mixed cheeses, "verdura" (which I think was spinach) and bacon and it was so so good I could have ordered the exact same dish a second time.

The portions are huge so you better not take an appetizer.

The owner was very friendly but the other two waiters were teenagers and didn't talk much.

Great value for price!

“Family value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

This is a small family restaurant with a warm welcome and excellent food. Nothing pretentious or commercial, just fine cooking with quality ingredients.
