“taste of real Palermo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2014

Location:
In the old centre of Palermo. In daytime - close to market when you can see real Sicily, eat fresh fish, buy vegetables, traditional sausage and great wine for supper. On nighttime - place turns into some kind of African market. Can be very loud, and you can feel unsafe.

Room:
VERY CLEAN. Kinda dark. Tiny shower. But there is terrace on the roof where you can have your own supper.

Staff:
Helpful and friendly.

In general:
Good ratio of price to value.
When living there you can have a taste of real Palermo.
I think it's better to arrive there during daytime. The hotel is hidden among small narrow streets. Neighborhood looks pretty dangerous at night. Looking for your hotel then - not a pleasant experience.

Definitely, one of the most unpleasant hotels I have stayed in. I had a narrow, cramped room with single bed for the same price as one I had elsewhere in Palermo which was four times bigger. It's tucked away down some side streets from Via Maqueda which are not very pleasant and with cars and motorbikes streaking past, can be dangerous.
The hotel had a horrible pervasive smell of two-stoke diesel fuel which was unremitting. The noise at night was simply unbearable. Walk round the corner and you find students revelling into the wee, small hours. Extremely annoying!
The breakfast was described on their website as "And to ensure you start the day on a full stomach we serve a full continental breakfast including tea, coffe [sic], cappucino [sic], pastries, cereal, fruit juice and yoghurt in our breakfast room." Nothing doing! All you get is a flimsy croissant and poor coffee! Dishonest!
Unless I missed a trick, you had to buzz to be let in (a bit like a borstal) and you had better make sure you returned before midnight or you might not be let in at all (or face turning into a pumpkin!).
The WiFi was good but you had to sign in after not using it for a while.
On the plus side, it was close to the historic area and not far from the railway station but then you're never far away wherever you stay in Palermo.

Room Tip: The best tip would be to stay away!

The only plus is the proximity to the train and bus station.
Located next to the market, you will hear loud music and party nights of weird crashes from inside the house somewhere ... On the first night at 21:00 when going around a walk, wrapped up neck gold neck chain Torino street corner. Thieves drove a motorbike. Take warning from the back of the traveling scooters! Hotel breakfast was very poor. Drank a cup of juice and a cup of coffee, two remained untouched white bread and jam. Each additional unit cost 1 euro, and there was no other choice. Very scary neighborhood. Necklaces and bags of to hide!

My comment will not add too much to the previous ones. The location of the hotel is fine, but it is in a so much crowdy and noisy place! The sound isolation in the hotel is very pure, so you hear everything what happen outside. There is a market and disco, this place is actively noisy 24 hours per day, especially at evening, for instance from 10MP to 1AM. I could sleep just with еarplugs... The stuff of the hotel is a family are very friendly and helpful, althogh dont really speak english. The father of the family is speak english, and he changed easy my room to more quit, however this was also quite noisy.
Another pure thing is a breakfast. It is really ugly: dissolved coffee from mashine, croasant, small roll and butter, thats it!
Concerning cleaness, my first room was really dirty, dust everywhere, but after I move to another one it was OK, they clean every day and even changed towels each second day, what is very nice for the 2-star hotel.
I would reccomend for the hotel stuff to do something with sound-isolations, remove "coffe"-machine, and improve breakfast. It could be 3-star then!
And for the guest, just dont stay here if you are sensitive to sounds when you sleep, and if you like space. The rooms are really terrifically small, and with very limited shower-cabin. I felt too closely there, but I am very skinny, 48 kg and 160 cm! If you dont mind, then enjoy it, the price is really nice compare to other hotels.

Room Tip: single room in the 2nd floor just in front of reception is really ugly!

We live in the room that was closest to the market. Having noises coming from the outside all the way till early morning, I really couldn't sleep well.
I came with my husband, specifying we want a double room, a matrimonial bed, realizing the owner was only willing to give us a twin room, 2 seperate beds. He wasn't very friendly on telling us and kept insisiting double room is a room with 2 seperate beds.
Other than the noise and not very good quality breakfast, I also find the hotel very dirty and in poor condition. We didn't even touch our breadfast and left asap.
If you're a traveler who likes clean room and quiet place to have your vacation, don't go.

Hotel has good location - not far from the train station as well as city center. It's not noisy hotel which is not typical for 2-star for such small money. Rabbit is nice and quite unusual pet.
But there are some issues: 1. Receptionist does not speak English good enough. 2. Air conditioner makes loud noise which made impossible its usage. Breakfast is limited. One cup of coffee, 0.5 l of juice for 2 (diluted with water), piece of bread, one croissant, butter, jam and that's all. There is no personal piece of soap, only batcher which is difficult to use when you take a shower. Pretty small shower cabin.

Room Tip: Check air conditioner the first thing

We were a bunch of 11 people, 9 students + 2 adults staying in the hotel for a complete week.
We were warmly welcome, very friendly managers and always willing to help you.
The hotel is situated in the heart of Palermo which is just optimal.
We all felt very secure in this place, although we've been told that the area could be sometimes dangerous.
Otherwise all rooms have all necessary accommodation and they are clean.
The funny point is the rabbit Pipino moving freely and playing with his ball in the reception
We can highly recommend this lovely place.
