“Lovely Byzantine chapel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

The Byzantine paintings in the chapel were incredible. The colours were extremely bright, with continual stories around the walls. The Bible accounts were well illustrated. When we visited we could only see the chapel as all other areas were not open. Worth seeing

“stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

The Norman Castle is interesting but as it's in use for the local parliament you can't roam freely about. The historical rooms are good but no photos are permitted. The Palatine Chapel, on the other hand, is an absolute stunner, some of the best and most elaborate mosaics to be seen anywhere (except, perhaps, just up the hill at Monreale).

“The chapel alone is worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

The palace, compared to elsewhere in europe, is quite small and fairly shoddy. My visit, at a slow pace, was over in 1.5 hrs.

“Palatine Chapel... unbelievable beauty!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

The palatine Chapel, Cappella Palatina, is one of the most extraordinary pieces of Art of Palermo, and probably of Europe. Its a old church, with an arabic ceiling, byzantine golden mosaiques and a romanic flair.. fantastic!

“Amazing mosaics”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

A trip to Palermo would not be complete without a visit to the chapel here with its incredible mosaics. Take the time to examine the ceilings and looking at the biblical scenes played out above you. Wonderful.
