Owner description: This grand square features a splendid fountain, erected during the heyday of the Spanish Inquisition, which features sixteen statues that are nudes of nymphs, humans, mermaids and satyrs; truly a surprise that this type of art was permitted during that dark time in history.

“A really attractive square giving a feeling of spaciousness.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

This area is very pleasant and calm but is only one step away from the frenetic city activity. It is well worth a visit.

“One of the main sights in central Palermo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

This square, just off the Quattro Canti (4 corners) seems to be the epicentre of sightseeing in historic Palermo, most walks start/end here as do the horse drawn carriage rides. However in August 2012 it was covered in scaffolding and didnt look that great! I've given it a 4 rating as I think the area its in and whats underneath the scaffolding is architecturally stunning.

“stunning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2012

One of the best of the town, the square is surrounded by excellent buildings: the town hall (XV-XIX century) two baroque churches and several ancient buildings. The fountain (XVII century) is fantastic.

“Disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012

I walked past this piazza a few times without even realising it was significant. The fountain is all fenced off to the point where you can barely see the thing, there are weeds growing all around it, and many of the buildings around it are derelict and boarded up.
