“very good - but some problems ...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

50 year old professional couple, stayed mid Feb 2013 for 3 nights. positive aspects of the hotel: (1) within walking distance of the airport bus and main train station as well as many of the main sights (2) clean, modern comfortable rooms, good mattresses, fairly soundproof windows [our room was 2nd floor - ear plugs still advisable!] (3) stylish hotel interior design (4) good safe in the room ; negative aspects: (1) reception staff is not well informed / not really helpful, there is no information about Palermo sights in the room, there are no tea making facilities in the room (2) breakfast room is uncomfortable due to exceedingly cold drafts (we complained repeatedly, but the problem persisted) (3) coffee machine at breakfast produces awful canteen quality coffee - one has to specifically ask staff to get a proper coffee from the bar area (4) on checkout multiple items from the mini-bar were added to my bill - even though nothing was ever taken/consumed - I had to vehemently protest for the charges to be dropped with no apology forthcoming (5) no CNN or BBC World Service on TV - only (mostly rubbish) Italian stations ... (6) free WIFI only in the reception area, in the room there is a ridiculous € 15/day charge Nevertheless, on balance, I would recommend this hotel and stay here again

“Good hotel but...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013 via mobile

The plus :
Excellent location, in the historical center. From the airport, we took the bus and then walked 15 minutes
An old palace, beautifully renovated
Large room, large modern bathroom
Good breakfast
Reception people nice and helpfull

Some incovenients:
Dark room, insufficiently lighted
Very noisy on saturday and sunday night : heavy music coming from bars (bring your earplugs)
Internet usage charged to customers : 15 euros a full day or 6 euros 2 hours. In addition we couldn't connect more than one smartphone to the internet.

“Great Location, Nice Rooms, Still Charging for Wireless”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

We stayed here in September. we picked the hotel based on Tripadvisor and were not disappointed. It is a wonderful location, was a nice walk back from the Opera and a great spot to begin a tour of ancient Palermo. Our guide, and Vincenzo from Tradizione Turismo, walked us around Palermo through the back streets to many of the highlights of the city.

Across from the entrance to the hotel is an alleyway that is empty during the day and rocks with people into the night. We came back from the Opera, finds seats in a bar that was no longer serving food butt the okayed getting pizza from three doors down and bringing it in.

The rooms at Palazzo Sitano are good sized, kept neat and clear and they are quiet both internally and to the outside. They have a bar with snacks and give pretty good directions. They do charge for internet access, which is stupid in this day and age, but that is a relatively small pain.

There is a larger pain in that they seem to have a large number of groups passing through and seem to be understaffed at the front desk when that occurs. The large groups tend to be locust like at breakfast but the hotel has to make a buck.

All in all, I would happily return to this hotel and still whine about the internet.
