“Failed Promises for Reservation”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2012

We arrived at the restuarant for our 8:30 pm reservation for two.
We were told that if we wanted an outside table it would be 10-15 minutes.
We elected to wait & to be able to sit outside, since there were vacant tables outside.
Tables that could sit two were subsequently put together for larger groups, while we waited.
These larger groups arrived after us.

After waiting 1/2 hour, we asked about our table & were told "in a momento"

At 9:15 there we no more tables available outside.
The restuarant obviously took the larger groups over our table for two.
The hostess & owner were rude to my wife & ignored our questions.

DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTUARANT EVEN WITH RESERVATIONS

“Great pizza, dark environ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2012

Unique place, a bit gothic, strange hooded character with torch greeting you outside, and glaring at you from the menu, but the pizza was really excellent and the other dishes very good as well. I would eat here again, though I don't quite trust the hooded guy. There are a few stone-walled rooms and you almost feel like you're in a torture chamber when you walk from the front door to your table. But if you like a unique environ with excellent pizza, try this place.

“Delicious food, marvelous atmosphere, great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2011

What a delight this place was. We lunched outside next to the park with the magnificent trees, and were brought course after course of outstanding Sicilian cuisine. What a delightful experience. We heard the story of the Beati Paoli, the Scarlet Pimpernels of Sicily, and their haunts beneath the streets of Old Palermo. Then we ventured inside to see the grotto the interior of the restaurant is built in. If I return, I'll be sure to come for dinner so I can enjoy the magical setting.

“mediocre cooking and ingredients”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2011

We decided to try the pizza here on the recommendation of our hotel porter. Mistake. It was unpleasantly greasy and several of the ingredients were canned (watery artichokes, rubbery porcini mushrooms, etc). My partner had a meat dish, the meat was very good, though the sauce it was served with was bland and uninteresting. It was overpriced for what they serve.
The wine list is ok. Atmosphere is a bit claustrophobic inside (it's all done out like a sort of cave).

“Best pizzeria in Palermo !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2011

Come early, before 8 or you will not get a table ! There are 3 restaurants together, this one full with many waiting, the 1 before and after almost empty. Many locals eat here on a Friday night. To get there go down Via Vittorio Emanuele past the Falkensteiner hotel and turn right, go round the right side of the park until you almost come to the huge tree. Good luck.
