“Fantastic sightseeing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012 via mobile

A quite impressive view of Palermo and Mondello. Worth the scary road to get there. On the way back to Mondello, find a place to stop to capture some unforgettable views.

“Amazing views of Palermo and Mondello”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012

This was quite tricky to find due to the inconsistent road signs, but follow the signs for "Santuario Santa Rosalia" and you'll get there in the end. We drove up here on a Sunday and found the locals parked up wherever they pleased, picnicking in the wooded areas. We found spectacular views on the way up and down, with the most breathtaking overview of Palermo at the very top. Even though it was a weekend it was still quite quiet at the top (although typical for SIcily there was graffiti everywhere) and peaceful. Go here on a clear sunny day and you will be blown away.

“Beautiful views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2012

If you're in Palermo and seen all of it's attractions, then this is worth the bus ride. The bus leaves from Piazza Sturzo and is only a 20 min. ride. The ride on the winding mountain has great views but the best part is when the bus drops you off. You will find yourself in front of St. Rosalia's shrine. She is the patron saint of Palermo. After visiting the shrine, you walk the uphill road to the right of the shrine . It takes about 30 min. to reach the top. Y0u are rewarded with beautiful panoramic views of Palermo and the surrounding sea and mountains.

“A short bus ride from Palermo - but what a ride.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2010

The bus starts from the Piazza Sturzo so it means two buses from the station. It has to go a long way west through the streets of Palermo but the Monte becomes obvious on the right. Then it turns to go UP with increasingly good views of either nearby woodland or coast.

The terminus is by the shrine of Santa Rosalia and you have time for a quick visit before the bus goes back - or a long wait for the next bus - or you could walk down by footpaths. I have no interest in the shrine but the driver took us a bit higher and gave a few minutes for views and photos.
