“Only one reason for not rating this 'excellent'”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2012

We stayed here for three nights, and got excellent value for money.
Staff was most helpful and friendly at any time of the day.
The hotel is clean and has an accommodating design.
Breakfast was excellent.
Only issue is location if you want to explore the city - walking distance to the centre is 30 min (if you manage not to get knocked over by one of the looneys on scooters). Public transport is not really predictable, especially if you want to get back. Taxi will cost you about 15.- EUR.
Good location for getting out of town by car.
Also, if you want to take the circumetnea railway for a trip around the Aetna - the station is just 600m away (cibali circumetnea).
Enjoy your stay:)!

At Villa Cibele the rooms were really nice, with clean quality bathrooms, ensuite kitchen solution and aircondition. The service was very nice, and the driver drove 4 times to the airport to pick up the five of us.
The location was hovewer not perfect for tourists, as it was a bit far to walk downtown. There were also just one elevator, and that took ages to get hold on, but besides that, this was a very ok hotel at a good price.

This hotel is a family run business. Close to all amenities, the breakkfast was great.
Rooms were extremely clean and if you need directions nothing was too n=much trouble for them. The owner what a great lady she hopped all 3 of us in her car and gave a us a lift into the city. What person would do that.
I am plannibng another trip to catania in 2 years time and I am staying there again.
It was everything I wanted in a hotel-just remember it is catania, Clean- Clean - Clean
and hte water stayed on.In italy they also turn the water off.

I Highly recommend this hotel to every one.

Thants alot we have wonderful stay.

We stood 3 days in that hotel, which looks nice on the pictures and had an unpleasant stay for the several reasons:
-the hotel is far from the city centre
-the neighborhood is shabby and dangerous at night and you'll need every time a 15€ taxi ride to get downtown!
-our room has not been cleaned once in those 3 days!

Once we got inside this hotel we found it was very well decorated and the bedrooms were really nice. But when we arrived outside the hotel the area surrounding it is very run down and we were reluctant to leave our hire car outside when we went to check in. There is a parking area inside a 10 foot iron gate which we were happy about. The hotel is approx. a 20 minute drive from any nice restaurants and the shopping area.
The hotel reception staff were very helpful but the breakfast staff were awful as was the breakfast offering. Every morning when we got to the breakfast room there was practically nothing left on the buffet. At first we thought that perhaps breakfast finished at 9.30am although we had been told it was open until 10am. Each morning we had to ask for more food to be brought out and for tea/coffee. The staff were rather reluctant and seemed put out to actually have to do any work.
Overall the hotel was really nice but I don't think I'd go back to it as it is too far from the city centre in a rather dodgy looking area and the breakfast was appalling.

This hotel was nicely decorated and the rooms were well furnished. We had a beautiful terrace and a kitchen area that we were able to use. The downside to this hotel is that it is a 10-15min walk out of Catania in quite a residential area. Walking during the day was ok, however at night it was a little more daunting.

  • Liked — The room was very modern and well decorated
  • Disliked — The distance from the centre
