“Amazing B&B, the Globetrotter Catania knows how to host!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2011

What a place, good value, excellent central location and fabulous staff. This Bed and Breakfast has it all. Beautiful rooms, a varied breakfast, very helpful staff and reccomendations. Located in the heart of Catania, Sicily right next to the Duomo and the market. It is located down an enchanting alley away from then noise of this bustling, exciting city.
Top marks for hospitality and Sicily generally. A great get-away!
An extended thankyou.

I am a bit bewildered about the stellar reviews. The hosts are friendly enough, and the location is quite good, but the sleeping environment was very poor.

Our room was extremely small, so small that the double bed was pushed against one wall.

The bed is actually some kind of wood box with a couple of inches of padding on it. It is not a mattress and was quite uncomfortable.

All night we repeatedly heard a whistle followed by something mechanical spinning up. This happened approximately every fifteen minutes all night long.

The shower was extremely small and the hook that should hold the showerhead was broken.

Breakfast was good enough and they make good coffee.

Upon checkout they encountered difficulty with their credit card machine. These quickly resolved themselves when I declined to go to an ATM.

All of this said, I do not know if you can get better in Catania for less money.

Room Tip: Room 4 is not recommended.

I stayed here for a few days at the beginning of May and had a wonderful time. The staff were open, enthusiastic and willing to advise and help with my stay and they really made my time here worthwhile. The location of Globetrotters is in walking distance of all the central sights of Catania, and the rooms were spacious, clean and excellent value for money. Etna is also easily accessible, and Catania itself is a beautiful city. I would highly recommend Globetrotters to anyone looking for a place to stay during their time in Sicily, and cannot speak highly enough of the warm and welcoming atmosphere there.

I was very late in booking my accomodation in Catania...and the B&B was full. But the friendly and helpful staff, booked me in an apartment nearby. They have a wide choice of apartments: either private for you and your fellow travellers. Or you can also just book 1 room in a shared apartment, which is a cheaper alternative for solo-travellers like me.
I don't know how many languages all the staff combined speak.. but for sure : A LOT !!
They also own a B&B in Siracusa, so they made the reservation for me.. which made traveling easier for me: no more phonecalls/searching for a good B&B.
The B&B in Catania offers also day-trips to the vulcano Etna. Must say that was my best day in Sicily. The tourguides are not just guys that like mountains.. but people with an university degree in Vulcano-studies (or whatever that is called), but can still explain it at a down-to-earth level for tourists (in a few languages...).
So overall, a very positive experience with the B&B Globetrotter Catania...

Lovely place, great location, so easy to see Catania from here. The room I had was nice and a comfortable futon. Only problem was the noise. My room ( no.1 ) had a Public access computer directly outside bedroom door, and a very noisy stairway to awake you everytime someone passes. Also if you fancy a sleep in, take your earplugs, as breakfast starts early!! Wifi works very well and Silvia who checked us in was very helpful and well informed. She also recommended a wonderful restaurant that was certainly a highlight of our stay!! Also, car parking on the street surrounding is free!

I stayed here 3 weeks last fall and liked it so much I returned for 2 weeks this spring. It is minutes from Piazza Duomo, all kinds of restaurants and a great location. The staff is simply wonderful and will help you with any request! They will go out of their way to make sure you have a wonderful experience in Catania. Breakfast is great with the freshest rolls from a nearby bakery. The cappuchino is the only way to start your day. My room was very comforable, and I had a private bath, daily maid service, clean sheets and towels every 3 days and kitchen priviledges. Also, the famous market for fruits, vegetables, meats and fish is 30 seconds away - a good way to pick up something for dinner or lunch. Don't forget the wine! I stayed here while attending Italian language school and cannot think of a better place to be than Globetrotter. I plan to return in the spring.

The place was cozy and people very friendly.
Didnt stay in the usual hostel rooms because they were full and thus we were provided with accommodation that is usually meant for people who study italian in Catania. So once more, very helpful and friendly people there!
