“Lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

We have just returned from The Katane Palace - A little oasis in the pleasant city of Catania! The staff were polite and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was very good (in a lovely area looking out onto the delightful hotel courtyard).
The hotel looks cared for, with great attention to detail.

Katane Palace Hotel is avarage to fair...their best points are the breakfast! Selection of food is great...fresh fruit juice, nice bread & good espresso coffee. The bad points are poor to zero wifi faculties in room! Also felt that hire car was dented by valet parking staff!!!

On arrival to our rooms there was only 1 bulb that worked in the toilet. There weren't enough spare blankets or pillows for myself & guest! Staff felt a bit detached & cold! The court yard was nice & breakfast was well above average.
The shower heads were not clean...too much mould. Recommend paying extra & staying at the Excelsior!

The hotel is very well managed by the staff
Food is good
Cleaning good
Garage service very good
Reception service is good
Wifi good

The only thing that I don't know how you pay a hotel room with AC
And you go in room and you find that the system is off because is winter ( November in Catania is like June) so please inform the guest about it on your website because if a guest pay for a room with AC we expected to have no matter if is winter or summer

The best thing about this hotel was the location. Only 10 minutes walk to Via Etnea .
The room was good but the bathroom needed a bit of love and atention.
Breakfast was very basic, shame about the tinned fruit considering the lovely food markets and street sellers nearby. I liked the idea that you could do your own fresh orange juice.
Staff were helpful .

My husband and I was staying in The Katane Palace Hotel for one week in October. The room was decent size with balcony. The room was very clean. The furniture is well made, the standard of bathroom also I pretty high. This is not new hotel than you can find broken wall paper, old showerhead or so.
Breakfasts were every day the same and there wasn't many choices. We were very disappointed because pretty often they served old boiled eggs early morning. Always check if the eggs are warm or hot. If they are cold from the fridge they are not freshly cooked. Also the coffee wasn't tasty. We have ordered coffee latte and we got americano made of instant coffee. Very disappointing especially in Italy. Also if you order cappuccino make sure that you place the order with Italian waiter. The other waiter served us americano with chocolate on the top! Unfortunately the staff in the hotel doesn't wear name badges.
The impression is that they don't have enough of training, they don't care about the guests, they are all the time on the phones talking to someone. We had a feeling that we disturb them. The level of service is poor.
There is plenty of nice places around to have a nice coffee and breakfast. We won't go back to the hotel. It wasn't worth of money we spent for this accommodation. This is not 4 stars hotel with this service.

Room Tip: Try The Excellcior Hotel which is nearby. We regret that we haven't changed our accommodation...

I stayed at the hotel for four nights. I can't say I found it to be of four star standard. On arrival the room I was provided was extremely hot and the airconditioning didn't work. Staff not very helpful when I mentioned the problem, eventually one staff member did check the airconditioning to agree that there was a problem. I then agreed to be moved to another room the following day. Second room was marginally better, though that room had mosquitoes and a fridge that didn't work. I did mention the mosquitoes and that problem was fixed. Didn't mention the fridge as by this time I accepted - I made a wrong choice in hotel.

The room has seen better days - the wallpaper was starting to lift.

The rooms are kept very clean. The room was quiet, even though it was facing the street.

Location of hotel is good and easy to get around. The surrounding streets are dirty, but I think this is the norm in Catania.

Breakfast was good and pleasant overlooking the courtyard.

I had dinner at the restaurant - can't say it was a great beef fillet. I waited about an hour for my main course. Couldn't wait to leave the restaurant.

Overall - I wouldn't stay at the hotel or eat at the restaurant again.
