We went to this restaurant twice and each time it was a treat. The first time, my wife and I stopped for lunch after reading the great Tripadvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. Following the owners suggestion we ordered:
- one (!) course of their special appetizers (fish raw and cooked in 10 different ways, a small portion but there are 10 different little plates);
- one (!) pasta dish (fish again and it came in a small bowl, more than enough for 2 people, especially if they had ordered the appetizers earlier);
- a tuna steak with tons of onions and a special sweet and sour sauce (great).
The food was wonderful. We also ordered a bottle of white wine (again suggested by the owner) that was fantastic. As they usually do for their clients, they offered bread (stay away from it or you won't be able to eat everything) a small bruschetta, dessert and sicilian rosolio - a typical local liquor. Final price: 42 euros (!!!).
The second time we went with the entire family (my two kids joined in) and without a reservation. The cook was away on his honeymoon and the owner was in the kitchen in his place. Everything spelled: likely disappointment. Each one of us ordered a pasta dish as it was early and no one was super hungry. After 20 minutes the four past dishes were on our table: my kids had gnocchi with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese (they were not in the mood for fish) and their plates were emptied in less than 10 minutes. My wife had linguine with scampi and shrimps (the best choice of all) and I had penne with eggplant and swordfish (extremely tasty but not as good as the scampi and shrimp dish). Again no one was disappointed and, surprise, surprise, when we went to pay the bill the final price was 40 euros. The owner decided that water, bread, local wine, bruschetta, dessert and rosolio were all on the house. Need I say anything else?
PS
One small caveat. Waiters are extra nice and really friendly and they have menus in English. However, their grasp of the language is not really great (there was a UK couple close to our table and we helped out in translating some of their requests). So, speaking a little Italian does help.
