“Unique and Unusual”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012 via mobile

I first saw these ruins from the top floor of a city sightseeing bus and couldn't believe my eyes. I was blown away and went back to visit the ruins paying €6 approx entrance. They looked as if they were from a parallel world. The ruins were dug out of Catania's basement. The city had grown up over and now around these ruins, I would have loved more info at this one as I could see the lions and gladiators here. An intrepretive centre would not be amiss.

“A courtyard”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

Imagine waking up in the morning opening your window and look out. The courtyard is not a parking lot, is an almost intact small Roman theatre. Another piece the last eruption did not touch. Canìt be seen from the street as it really is the courtyard of a huge palace, build later around the the theatre. In summer they perform various concerts.

“Very impressive ruins”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

Despite the recent buildings surrounding the site, the place looks very impressive, maybe also because in the middle of the city. Expensive ticket for no explanation, and the site is not very clean.

“Underwhelming”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

No information...no tour guide...no brochures upon entry to theatre....complete waste of 6.00 euro entrance fee...it is completely under construction...and by the look of things this construction site may last a long, long time...

“One of the best ancient theatres”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

If you like ancient theatres then this one is a must. The city is built up around it and that also makes it unique
