“Wonderful pool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

This hotel is situated just outside Agrigento so not within walking distance of any amenities. However the rooms are clean and fairly spacious with modern bathrooms. Not all views have sea view so it is best to request this. The food is very good but the gardens and pool are exceptional. The pool is very large and has gentle sloping area as you enter where non swimmers can just sit in the shallow water to cool off. The staff were very helpful and polite.

I enjoyed this hotel as part of a Rivera coach tour. The staff were very helpful especially at dinner time. true there was no lift but being only 60 I could manage our cases myself. There was nowhere to walk on an evening but being on a coach tour there were plenty of people to talk to. The pool was large and excellent as my wife an I like swimming. The bedroom was Ok but nothing special, the bathroom as a wee bit small. The booze in the hotel was reasonably priced.

On arrival we were impressed. Admittedly it was dark but the hotel looked ultra modern and special. Our room had an initial wow factor but apart from a comfortable bed it only had one basic chair and dressing table, The only other furniture was in the form of shelves acting as bedside tables. The lighting was interesting but in our 3 night stay we failed to figure out which switch worked which light as they seemed to all be connected together. We augmented the furniture by bringing in chairs fro the paved area outside, which overlooked some bare ground. The fitted wardrobe was fine for us but some fellow guests found it impossible to reach the hanging rail! The bathroom was strange, with a slatted wooden floor with rocking slats. This extended into a walk in shower. We had a problem with the sliding door. Not only did the handle fall off on first use but the door was off its runners and my wife had to be rescued on one occasion when it stuck in the closed position.
The food was acceptable but the dining room was a little like a school canteen with two courses of dinner being buffet, requiring all diners to be constantly on the move to serve themselves. For breakfast we were asked to pre-order omelettes. This was a bit of a farce as you had to grab a waiter and could order whatever omelette you wanted without any recourse to the order you'd made the previous evening. The furniture in the bar was strange, the modernistic settees being described as if the cushions had been removed. We failed to find any toilets on the restaurant floor. We're there any? Another complaint was the number of stairs that had to be negotiated to reach guest bedrooms. We were lucky, only 3 stairs to our room on the ground floor. The grounds were extensive and the pool looked super although too cold to use on our visit in early May. The steps down to it did not bother us but would have been a problem for disabled guests.

Room Tip: Go for a room on the entrance level to avoid the stairs. Views better from upper rooms.

the 2 good things about this hotel was the reception staff and the road away from this awful hotel.
Sicily is known for good food, whoever said so never visited this place. Green scrambled egg!
How about pea soup, yes it was pea soup, imagine a tin of garden peas in water heated up and then a bit of dry bread placed in the middle. If that is not enough to whet your appetite then there was the steak, cut very thin but still not thin enough to chew. The gardens potentially could be good but were overgrown and unkempt, the childrens playground could be great but was covered in weeds and had not been upkept. It is isolated and so you cant go out on foot to find a restaurant or entertainment.

We stayed as part of a Riviera Travel coach tour on 29th Septmeber for 3 nights. I thought that the hotel was clean, comfortable and about what I would expect for a 3-4 star hotel.
Our main problem were the number of stairs everywhere. Also you didn't get help to take your suitcase up various flights of stairs. I think this could have been organised better.
We moved my 85 year old Dad to a different room so that he would only have a few stairs/steps to his room and could use the lift to get to the dining room.
There are 49 steps down an outside marble staircase to the pool. The pool is large and shallow to help the sun keep it warm. The water was cool but seemed clean although as someone has said there are some areas of green algae on the bottom in places. The pool was a relaxing place to spend an hour when back off our coach trip but yes you do need to take your own drinks with you (the pool bar is not manned, probably because its low season).
The food was OK. There was antipasta to start with (mainly a selection of cooked cold vegetables and salad). This was followed by a soup or pasta or rice starter and then a meat or fish course. For dessert you could help yourself to fruit or various cakes and pastries. Apart from the pea soup which as as previously described - a tin of peas in a soup bowl we thought the food was OK. We certainly didn't go hungry. The drinks from the bar were a bit expensive, the best value was 1/2 litre of beer for 5 euros. The blood orange juice at breakfast was gorgeous.
Don't be put off by the reviews unless you have difficulties with stairs. The staff were very helpful in getting dad moved to another room.
NB The instructions for the TV are in the hotel information folder. The only english channels are BBC news and CNN.

Room Tip: Only some rooms are accessible from the lift. If you find stairs difficult then ask for a room on t...

The Kaos hotel at first looked beautiful but looking closer it seemed as if it had been neglected and tired. It was in the middle of nowhere and the staff had absolutely no interest in making your stay special in any way. The pool, which looked beautiful, had green slim on large sections of its floor. There was a bar area at the pool but it wasn’t staffed so you had to walk up numerous steps to try to find someone to serve you a drink. The meals they served were cold and tasteless. Far from 4 star!

The evening meal was awful really awful, example pea soup on menu, processed peas floating in a gruel... worse than school dinners..... breakfast passable, rooms good staff good ...the gardens beautiful, the pool amazing drinks and service average, but so busy, these hotels never seem to employ enough staff, consequently they are run ragged...

Room Tip: stuck at the back as on organised coach tour, unless you make a late booking seems to be the way...
