“Best in Cagliari”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

Whilst the city did not wow me, this hotel did. Sardinia was saved by a proper hotel. Boutique but in a good way. If you have to do the city then this is your hotel.
The staff got just about everything right.
Recommended.

I visited Miramare last minute as part of a short stay in Cagliari, and was blown away by the beauty of the place from the moment of walking in. Totally unique - the lobby is beautiful, there is an enclosed open-air orangerie which is candle lit by night, charming breakfast / sitting room, and the rooms are very beautiful. My room was tastefully decorated with double doors opening onto a julienne balcony and view of the sea. I found the hotel easy to locate, you just look at the street numbers when you get to Via Roma, which you can't really miss, and there's a big sign on the outside. You just have to go up the stairs. Breakfast was worth getting up for - and I'm a sleeper! 10 mins cab to the airport. Very central for the best restaurants, bars etc. Only thing I would concur with on many other reviews is the road noise - being so centrally & conveniently located, it is loud. Take ear plugs with you. Or perhaps hotel management could add this convenience to the lovely basket of toiletries available in the bathroom!

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are stunning but noisier as they are also facing the main road

Not bad, but the room is too small to travel with child and quit noisy.
Good location, not for beach vacation with child.
Wi fi is not working all the days , stuff is good.

All impression is positive except some points with noise, and very big parking problem

When you arrive, be sure and use the doorbell which is located to the left of the entrance door. One of the hotel staff (the hotel is located on the 2nd floor) will come down and help you with your luggage. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Upon arrival they had upgraded our room at no extra cost. Got a room that they called the art room. Neat and clean rooms, including a safety deposit box room for storage of valuables. The room also had air conditioning that worked perfectly. Distinctive and richly furnished breakfast room which created a nice and great atmosphere. Delicately arranged breakfast and always smiling breakfast hostess. They also offered free Wi-Fi.
The hotel was located in via Roma, in central Cagliari. Close to restaurants, shopping or just for a walk around town. If you want to go to the beach, bus stops (route 9P, PQ or PF) right outside the hotel. It takes about 15 minutes by bus to the beach. It pays off to buy a day ticket (€ 3) for the bus. Tickets you can buy in a newspaper kiosk.
Will certainly choose the same hotel if we return to Cagliari.

If you are visiting Cagliari and you are not going there by car, the hotel Miramare is the best choice for you. First things first. Why not by car? Well, the hotel is placed at a main road at the port of Cagliari. It is a nice location, but for parking, it's hell. You are lucky if you find a spot, so you are better of without a car.
As soon as you enter the hotel via a big old entrance near a café, you will get the first great experience in this hotel: the elevator. It's a small old elevator, fits two persons inside, closes manually and drives at a decent speed. It certainly feels like good old times.
The reception area is designed nicely and as soon as you arrive, a friendly staff member will welcome you. Usually, they will offer you something to drink to pass the time during the check in. You can have a look around in the nice inside/outside area of the hotel. As it is really small, there is just a small, but nice and cosy spot to sit outside, right next to the reception. The breakfast room is also near the reception. Designed really nice, with an old fireplace and old stucco on the ceiling.
The rooms are spacious and every room is designed differently.
I had a room, which was designed by an artist and had lots of stuff glued to the ceiling. So if you lay down in bed, you can see green painted guitars, playtoys, dolls, computer parts and all kinds of stuff. Other rooms are kept the old way and also pretty nice.
They are quiet at night, so even though you are in the middle of the city, you can get a good night sleep.
The breakfast is also delicious, but beware: if it's not included in your room rate, the price is pretty high.

The location itself is amazing. You can go shopping of sightseeing in the old town of Cagliari. Nice restaurants are also nearby and if you need any advice, the staff will help you with everything out.

So if you are looking for a great place to stay and get a little Rome feeling on Sardinia. This is the place to be.

We just stayed here for our first night in Sardinia and this hotel just elevated our experience! The staff is incredibly friendly and warm-and the building one of the most charming old villas you will find in the city. We were upgraded to a junior suite, which was absolutely quiet and with original furniture. The bathroom was amazing-huge, modern, shower, all glass and dark granite. Mostly though the hotel has a very unique charm, with every room different from the other, bright, clean and charming. Great breakfast which isn't normal in Italy per Se. And the friendliness of the staff is extraordinary. You have to go!!!

Stayed here to for five days in May. Had read the reviews so knew about the small lift etc. On arrival at the hotel early morning, our room wasn't due to be ready until 2 pm - they straight away offered us a cup of coffee/tea and offered us breakfast should we wish it. We had a walk round Cagliairi and came back to the hotel later that afternoon. We were shown to our room at the front of the hotel with views of the port/marina - a very nice room but unfortunately wasn't the balcony room we thought we had booked. However, as soon as I spoke to the Manager he promised to change the rooms the next day and offered us a discount on the room for the night. The room we moved into was perfect. We were able to stand on the balcony watching the world go by! The staff were polite and very attentive at all times and their advice on where to go to eat etc. was invaluable and we didn't have a bad meal the whole time we were there. It is a very unusual hotel, quirky with lots of artefacts - don't go if you want modern minimalism but do go if you want character and excellent service.

Room Tip: Room 10 - balcony room with fantastic views over the port/marina
