We came upon it by chance, in via majorca, a little one-way street parallel to the main via carlo alberto in the fascinating walled old town of Alghero. The Mill Inn is found in one of the old, arched buildings and is an intimate but comfortable haunt of the locals of all drinking ages. Tony's lifetime experience as a barman means you find draught beer, good Sardinian wines and excellent cocktails (look out for the fresh mint if you want the best mojito in the town!). You can also try the best Sardinian digestivi; all you have to do is ask. In the festive periods and summer nights you can often enjoy talented, local bands playing live or experience the regular, improvised jam sessions on Tony's guitar. When the big screen is not showing all the best of the classic music concerts, you can see important sporting events instead. The staff are young and friendly and we were able to ask advice about what to do and where to go. It opens in mid to late evening until the early hours, filling up to create a great atmosphere with none of the lager-lout behaviour you find in the bigger bars. Check it out for a good night.
