I arrived at the hotel in the late evening of 16th April after 14 hours train travel from Palermo, Sicily, and I was welcomed by the reception lady. She efficiently registered my documents for my 3 night stay, and conducted me to the lift elevator. The large room was spotlessly clean, as were the fixtures in the bathroom: shower, bidet, toilet and washbasin. All the towels and linen were of highest standard and the double bed very comfortable.
The hotel features vaulted cream-coloured stone ceilings.
Breakfasts were very adequate and varied.
The hotel is a short walk (500 metres) to the main Trenitalia Taranto train station. Also at this station on the right hand side, are 2 short platforms for the FSE train that serves small towns in the hinterland of the peninsula. Refer to Internet for timetables and routes.
My special thanks to Mr Antonio Giancola, while at the reception desk, who telephoned the private rail company to find the location of the departure station for the FSE train that serves the town of Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Albergo del Sole is a quality businessman's hotel, with a friendly attitude and style.
