“Very clean, extremely cooperative staff and great food for a fair price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2011

We spent 7 nights there with a large group and the experience was outstanding. Just outside of town suited us fine and there is easy shopping next door. The Victoria was exceptionally clean and the food downstairs was quite reasonable, especially considering the high quality.

The hotel is too far out on the slip-road of a motorway, right next to a big (& not very good) shopping centre. Staff were friendly enough, the room was nice, clean & modern and the pool was lovely, but the restaurant was shut the week we were there (a week ago) and we felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. Buses back from Vicenza stop at 8pm.

Hotel Victoria has a large garden with swimming pool and sun terrace. It is set in a strategic location, 10 minutes from the historic centre, close to the motorway exit.

You room is complete with all modern comforts including free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and an LCD TV. A hydromassage bathtub is available on request. Most of the rooms have a view of the garden. The modern swimming pool features a Jacuzzi, and is open throughout the summer. A fitness centre was opened in 2009 and features a massage room.

Start your day at the Victoria Hotel with a buffet breakfast, available from 07:00 until 09:30. The restaurant is open at both and lunch and dinner and features 3 dining rooms. You can choose from a menu of local dishes and a wide range of traditional pizzas.

I stayed here for one night after returning from a weekend in Florence. Prior to that I was at the Hotel Continental for five nights.

The hotel is ok if you either have a car or are visiting someone in Vicenza who does. I took a cab to the train station the next morning and realized just how far from the main area this hotel was. I was not impressed with the decor, very old and should be renovated. The breakfast was also not too good...I recommend not having it and be sure to tell the front desk so you don't get charged extra.

Positives...well, my mother stayed here for four nights and liked it because she did her shopping and was in need of a break after travelling for a week. She also liked the fact that it was better located for my brother to come visit.

If you are visiting Vicenza to see the town, stay at the Hotel Continental. Much better location, better breakfast and better service.

I visited Vicenza two years ago during a summer trip around North Italy. I stayed in
this hotel only two nights but I was satisfied with my choice. We noticed immediately the kind personnel that gave us a lot of helpful tips about things to see in Vicenza and surroundings. My room was clean and silent, and there was everything I needed (especially the hair-dryer!) and they changed sheets and towels every day. Finally, the most important thing for me, breakfast: it was perfect, very abundant and and there was a great choice of very good pastries, bread and all. I had not time to enjoy the summer garden and the pool, but it looked cool, and with the hot weather it looked very appealing!! I recommend this hotel for a little stay in Vicenza: both the town and the accommodation deserves it.

Average hotel. If you are looking for a budget, far away from city center, maybe this is for you. Service was great, always helpful but just not much unique about it. Similar to a Comfort Inn in the USA.

I stayed in a one-bedroom, kitchenette suite.

I'm not sure how far from the city center this hotel is because I used it as a base point between my visits to Verona and Venezia. It definitely is not within any reasonable walking distance to the city center.

The hotel is located next to a shopping mall which was convenient for last minute items or to browse in during some down time.

The elevator is extremely small and could barely fit one person and a suitcase. Be aware that depending on what wing/floor you are on you may have to make multiple trips or take the stairs.

The hotel itself, in its location and accomodations, is probably borderline 3 stars. I found the room to be tidy and clean. Not much on amenities, however. The furnishings were outdated but most definitely not uncomfortable. Think circa 1984. The couch in the suite was a sleeper. If television is important to you, staying here might not be an option. The television was approximatly 19" and reception was not so great. This was not a problem for me, but I can appreciate how it might be annoying to someone else.

The bedroom was large and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable to sleep on.

The wardrobe was very large and had a safe installed in it. There were also extra blankets and pillows which was nice.

The kichenette included utensils for use. However, if you do not clean the dishes and leave them for when you return, housekeeping staff will clean them and they do charge a fee for that. There is fair warning on the wall in English alerting guests to that fact.

The bathroom was large and clean. The shower was very small and the floor of the shower was extremely slippery. I would caution anyone to either wear flip-flops or to be especially careful. The shower head literally came out of the ceiling so that was odd. The liner was virtually useless in keeping water off of the rest of the bathroom floor since the shower floor is almost flush with the bathroom floor.

The staff were very much friendly and warm. I did not have any complaints about them whatsoever. For anyone who does not speak Italian, the staff is fluent in English and are eager to help. Many Americans use the hotel as well so there is always someone to strike up a casual conversation with.

The restaurant in the hotel was nice as well. It seemed to be a local hang out so the atmosphere had an authentic flavor to it that you usually don't find in other hotel restaurants. The food was good and reasonably priced.

I do not have any serious complaints about my stay at this hotel. I would not object to staying there again.

I would recommend this hotel to people with families, people that have their own transportation and are not planning to depend on mass transit, and for people who will not be using the hotel for anything more than somewhere to sleep and keep their things while they are about. If you are extremely particular about amenities, proximity to sights, etc., I would suggest that you not consider this hotel.

  • Liked — clean, nice staff
  • Disliked — proximity to city center of Vicenza not so great
