“Don't complain - rude staff bar one!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

The whole reason this hotel will get a "terrible" mark is due to the attitude General Manager and some of her staff. The detail of the hotel will be later.

Despite reserving the shuttle back from the Opera we were in the second shuttle. After seeing off the first shuttle we waited for it to return, first in the queue. However upon his return we were refused entry for other residents who were Italian or a couple who pushed in without a ticket.

After questioning it I was given some cock and bull story, which really annoyed me as I hate people who lie. So we waited for the third shuttle and got back 45 minutes later (which we could have walked back had we known. All in all quite a small issue but I was not happy at being lied to (and no Brit likes to be pushed in front of anyway)

Upon asking to speak with the GM about the manner of the staff member we were ignored. So I raised after paying on check out. After getting some more "stories" completely irrelevant to the matter it was clear that the two hotel staff had cooked up a falsehood at my own expense. Just down right lies that I got the shuttle I was booked on (despite seeing three shuttles and being in the third).

The Hotel GM it would seem has too much going on in her life to take calm and factual feedback. I was not asking for money or really anything just to pass on the feedback that she needed to speak with her staff. However she just became very angry and just plain rude. Thrusting 10 euros in my hand. So if you're reading this yourself... no I don't want your money nor did I. I personally think you should be more patient with your guests, ensure your staff do not lie or cook up stories which are incorrect. Your 10 euros devalued the entire situation and hotel and I do not think you are worthy of that job if you think this is how you solve your own staff issues.

Maybe I've stayed in too many nice hotels and expect service to be paramount in 4* or 5* hotels but this lady I would not have working in my establishment based on this experience. The manner of her rudeness and lack of understanding is certainly reflected in how the hotel is run.

I have donated the 10 euros to the Sterling equivalent to Help for Heroes a deserving charity from this highly strung individual who is not worth my time to deal with.

Would I stay again - never.

The hotel is 20 mins walk from the City, not enough room to store your clothes, WiFi is an odd and expensive farce too.

Asking anything from reception, bar one person who checked us in and out, is a hassle and one guy is so lazy I may as well sort it out myself. He'd rather read a paper and get someone else down from their work to sort out your requirements.

Great beds and tidy rooms - but breakfast was ok.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else!!!

I stayed at the Hotel San Pietro for a long weekend in Verona. The hotel itself is very nice. The staff is very helpful and the rooms are always clean, some with a view of the mountains. However, it is about a 30 min walk from the center of town and about 15 minutes from the train station. Take advantage of the free bike rental at the hotel! It cuts you trip to town down to about 10 minutes, and there are plenty of bike racks once you get into Verona.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front of the building have the best view.

I have been here for a weekend. Nice room, good breakfast: the waitress has been very professional and helpful, with me and my family.

The location is a bit far from the city centre, but you can get a bike directly from the hotel

Really nice hotel with with lovely rooms and super breakfast. A bit of a walk into town but we used the free bikes which cut the time down to 10 mins max .......flat all the way and no need to ride on the road. Would definitely use again.

Hotel San Pietro is really poor seen from outside, this kind of modern architecture of the 60's. Very difficult to go there by car as you have to go through a tunnel which is not well displayed on the GPS screen. Difficult to go there by walk, as there is no real space to walk on the side of a very speedy street. Costly to go there by taxi (15€ from the center of the city). Dark old factories around...People are nice, chambers are clean, beds are excellent. Nice shuttle to go to Arena at night, be prepared for an Italian rally driver!

Room Tip: No way to find a Quiet room or a nice view, but anyway, double windows are effective

This hotel was fine in that it was comfortable and had all one would expect from a 4 star hotel. Room was comfortable if a little small and had usual things including safe and also kettle which is fairly unusual on the continent. Breakfast was ok but coffee literally undrinkable and tea not much better. How can Italians not do coffee? The beds were very firm as were the pillows but second night got softer pillows.Must have known we were softy English! The double glazing was effective at keeping out the noise. However the location of the hotel is poor. Set in an industrial are between two, busy roads it is not very attractive and does not make you want to explore the local area. The walk into town is not pleasant and would take a considerable time. We used the bus which was ok and we got a timetable from the hotel. But considering how pretty and charming Verona is it would be preferable to find a hotel in the centre and be part of the ambience. If you could pick this hotel up and move it into the centre it would be fine given that you can't choose another!

we spent one night in Verona and we had a car , so we took this hotel , got a huge and very nice room and free parking and 7 minutes driving from the center. we just parked our car in a parking lot at the center and walked to all the beautiful places this city has to offer.

Room Tip: upgrade your room . it's not that expensive
