Two of us Stayed here for 4 nights at €195 x 3 and €150 x 1.
The location of this hotel is perfect, it is right on Corso Porta Nuova. It is 5 minutes walk from the Arena and 10 to 15 mins walk to the train/bus station. When we arrived at Verona Station, we took a taxi to the hotel about a 3 minute drive and cost me €7, but I also tipped €2. Not sure if that is expected but he was a nice driver and didn't rip us off.
On our day of departure as we had time we walked to the station and it took 15 minutes with 3 bags and is very doable if you are fit. You do have to cross 2 major roads, but that is not a problem. The heat might be the only deterrant.
We had room 322 on third floor facing the main street and we had a balcony with room for two. That room is small and the en suite is fine with a shower, no bath. They provide all the usual toiletries.
The bed was comfortable, and although there is traffic noise it was never loud enough to keep us awake as the windows seem to be well sound proofed. It was nice to be able to open the windows in the evening and watch the world go by. A shutter can be lowered during the heat of the day and at night and is very necessary.
We found the air conditioning to be very good, and it was not at all noisy, just a gentle constant hum.
If traffic noise is something you cannot take then there are also rooms at the rear of the hotel which would be quieter, but there are no balconies with these.
There is a mini bar in the room and the prices are good, but unfortunately not a lot of room to put any of your own water or wine. One bottle of water/wine is about all that will fit.
Breakfast is buffet continental and is very very good. The staff in the breakfast room are fabulous, so attentive and smiling. The coffee there is one of the best I have ever tasted. They provide fruits, cereals, juices, cheese, hams, breads and pastries (YUMMMM!)
Reception and Foyer is small and they have one PC dedicated to Internet which high speed and free to residents. I never had dificulty getting time on the internet there.
I found all the reception staff to be really lovely and they will help whenever they can without being intrusive. Check in, in particular was very pleasant and welcoming.
The rooms were very well cleaned on a daily basis and fresh towels provided as necessary. They provide a bowl of fruit - free gratis.
The hotel has a number of decent quality bicycles which residents can use free of charge. I did, and it was a very pleasant experience to ride around the beautiful city of Verona, if a little scary at times with the traffic !
The hotel is currently expanding (into the building next door) and it will be interesting to see if the level of friendliness and personality will be maintained when the new rooms are added. I certainly hope they do and I would have no hesitation in staying at Hotel Verona again.
