The hotel is situated slightly out of town, but just a 10 minute takes you to the sights, it is very handy for the train station though! The hotel had very spacious rooms and a lovely bathroom which looked quite new. I was surprised, given how much i paid, that the room was so great and can only account for this by saying that we must have gone slightly out of season. The hotel is accessable via an underpass to the city centre which i can imagine is not the most savoury place to walk through late at night on your own, but this does not detract from a very pleasant stay.

My husband and I + another couple of friends stayed at this hotel for three nights at the end of April. It is actually a very nice hotel - the lobby is quite impressive as you arrive and the rooms were quite smart and comfortable.

The main drawback to this hotel (but not a major one to be honest) was the location - it's at the side of a very busy road and to walk to the historical centre of Verona you have to walk through a quite long tunnel which seems to be used as a bit of a public lavatory - not a pleasant experience! That aside, the walk to the centre took about 15 minutes.

We thought breakfast was a bit of a rip-off at ten euros per head and found much better deals at some of the restaurants in the centre.

It's ok: I was there on business, so I was not looking for a charming hotel, but for a functional one, near the place where I had to go.
Anyway I would not recommend it.
Expecially if you're planning to go to Verona for leisure.
It's the typical 4 stars hotel for business travellers: big spaces, meetings and conference rooms, etc. But there are things that really annoy me. First: you cannot say that only the garage parking is the one that must be paid...since there are only car spaces that you must pay (I think about 15 euros/day... we paid 14 from the 6 p.m. to 8.30 a.m.) beside the garage. You cannot write on the web site that breakfast is included and then say that it is not. I admit that when I showed the confirm of the reservation (that I always print and take with me) they say "it's ok, no problem". I can think that maybe this was a mistake of the web site where I made the reservation, but it's not very nice.
The rooms are spacious and we had no noise problems. Large bathroom. Very good breakfast.. BUT no wireless internet, as was promised on the web site... that's not nice if you're travelling on business and you chose that hotel also because there was that possibility, I think.
Most af all I disliked the restaurant: too much expensive considering the meal we had. Nothing extraordinary... better if you go out and have a good dinner in Verona.
This was my experience. Hope it can be useful. Of course, if you are looking for an average 4 stars hotel and are there on business and you know you're going to pay for: parking, light dinner and breakfast and you don't need wireless internet, it's ok.

We stayed here in late October. It looks beautiful when you first walk in to the lobby, and the room also looks lovely, until you stay there for any length of time. The hotel had switched all the rooms to "heat" for the season, but it was unseasonably warm when we got there. You could not lower the temperature, or even get recirculation, so we had to open the windows. However, all the rooms look out over a major highway, or railroad station, so it was EXTREMELY loud all night long. And the mosquitoes bit all night long. Complaining fell on deaf ears.Everyone in my party of 8 people had miserable nights, for the 3 nights there.
In addition, maids removed dirty towels in the evening, but never replaced with new ones! There is no makeup/shaving mirror in the bathroom, as you would expect with a luxury hotel. No internet in the rooms at all, so any business has to be done on lobby slow computers, that can't open attachments. We will not stay here again.

We have just returned from a long weekend in Verona, arriving in the city by train. The Leon D'oro is a 10 minute walk from the station adjacent to a fairly busy road network, but there are pedestrian crossings - we picked up a location map from the Information office at the station. We found the hotel reception staff to be extremely pleasant and helpful with all our queries. We had a deluxe room which was very clean, pleasantly decorated and a good size with an equally good sized bathroom equipped with a 'proper' hairdryer . Breakfast was not included in our rate but was available until 1030 at an additional cost of 10 euros p.p. There was also a pre Opera buffet service and a courtesy shuttle service to the arena. Though we did not take advantage of this. Our only reservation about using this hotel again (and we will definitely be returning to Verona) is the location, the 10 minute walk into the town was not a problem to us but you are walking next to and crossing busy roads and have to go through a pedestrian underpass which was not particularly nice. The photo of the hotel frontage is also a little misleading as in fact there is a river running directly in front of the hotel and entrance is through a side road.
