“Nice Hotel but not central”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

The hotel was located close to the main railway station (less than 10 min by taxi). I had requested a feather pillow in advance when I booked but there was none upon our arrival. The hotel bought one in especially for me the next day, which I appreciated and they gave us a couple of ceramic cups as gifts (which I gave away because it was not practical to carry in my suitcase), to make up for not having the pillow available upon arrival. The room was spacious. Breakfast buffet very good. Lots of choices. Staff co-operative.

A little too far to walk to the centre of Verona. About 20 minutes brisk walk. A nuisance when it rained. In spite of stating on its publicity that the hotel had a pillow menu, it didn't have the feather pillow I had requested in advance. Computer in the lobby was perched on a high bench with no chair so it was uncomfortable as I had no choice but to stand when I used it.

Dear Nitz_12,
thanks to have written on Tripadvisor.
I am pleased you appreciated the feather pillows you had in your room.
I inform you that we make publicity of the pillow menu because this is a service we give.
In your case I would like to apologize because we placed just two feather pillows on your arrival and not all the 6 pillows you had on the bed.
Regarding the distance to the city centre, the Arena and Bra Square is just 5 minutes walking (at the end of the street); I agree with you that if somebody is interested in staying near the Roman Theatre or Erbe square, Grand Hotel is a little bit far.
Regarding the pc placed on a high bench, please next time ask the front desk to give you the iPad so you could use it comfortable sitting in the lobby or in your room.
Hope to see you again in Verona

We have just returned from a 4 night break to Verona staying at the fantastic Grand Hotel. The staff were very helpfull and all spoke good english and were always willing to help. The rooms were large clean and comfortable with new beautifully tiled bathrooms. The breakfast was good with a good choice of fresh fruit, cereals, breads pastries and also cooked breakfast items as well. All round the hotel are fantastic pieces of art that make the hotel a real treat to walk round and admire. You are only 5 minutes walk to the station and about 5 minutes walk to the main walled town with all the restaurants bars and attractions. We went to venice for the day which took an hour on the train and went to Lake Garda which only took 20 minutes and only cost 2 euros a real bargain. I would go back to Verona as it is a good base to travel to other places and has lovely bars and restaurants to visit in the evening and I would stay at the Grand again.

Really enjoyed my stay here in this historical building only five minutes walk from the Area in Verona.

Rooms were clean and very comfortable, a little dark, but it seemed to add to the ambience of the building.

Windows open fully and mine overlooked the pretty garden.

Main attraction had to be the distance from the centre of historical old Verona and it was easy to get around.

Friendly and helpful staff. Reasonable breakfast.

Would recommend.

(only niggle - no ironing facilities at all - quite common in Italy, and you will be fined if you take your own.)

Room Tip: They ask which you'd prefer (ie street or garden) and I chose garden, wasn't disappointed.

Dear Quinonostante,
thank you for your kind review.
I would like to specify that we offer a 4-star laundry service; this means that we wash and iron for our clients so the guests could enjoy the city and on their return back to the hotel they find everything clean and ironed.
I stay at your disposal and wish to welcome you back in Verona

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel in September.
The staff were helpful and friendly - especially the young waiter in the bar where we enjoyed decent priced wine and prosecco in lovely surroundings.
The room was a little small but it had nice furnishings and was nice and clean with a comfortable bed.
We chose this hotel because of it's nearness to the station. It was raining when we arrived so thankfully we didnt have too far to walk. The hotel provided umbrellas too.
The breakfast buffet was very good - a very attractive display and a fine selection compaared to other Italian hotels we have stayed in.
We would definitely stay in the Grand if in Verona again.

As other reviews have said, this is an easy place to walk to from the train station. The rooms are a bit dark, however the bathroom was clean, neat and roomy and the room itself was satisfactory. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The breakfast is ok, nothing special though. The hotel is a comfortable 10 minute walk from the old town where most of the historical sights are. There is a supermarket, "Pam" just off on the left side of the main road when walking to the main square, look left just before you go under the arch way into the square. It had the cheapest items we saw in all our Italy trip. Verona is worth a stop on the way to Venice, but only for a day or so.

Dear Adrian1958,
you are right when you write that the rooms are a bit dark.
The windows are not very big, the building is ancient and the forniture is old style.. but all that gives also the charming atmosphere that many clients describe.
Hope to see you again

Myself and my very best friends went to Verona to celebrate our friends 70th Birthday .Hotel was magnificent .clean welcoming, and central to all that we needed to do a 10 minute walk to the station were we took a train on our 1st day to Venice which was brilliant and then our 2nd day to Lake Garda. We went out every night to city Centre were we were spoilt for choice with restaurants.
When we returned to our room there was a chocolate left on our pillows .There was a vast selection of breakfasts that we could choose and all staff were very helpful and polite.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights (23-25 September) of a 7 night trip; we wished we had stayed longer. We used public transport and it was a 10 minute walk from the train station and that was pulling along 2x20kg suitcases and hand luggage. If you’re walking from the station make sure you’re on the other side of the road to the Esso garage which is to the right as you leave the station and then keep going left until you reach Corso Porto Nuova and cross the road at the first crossing, the hotel is a further 2 minutes. The hotel is only 5-8 minutes stroll to the Piazza Bra where most roads and avenues to other places to see lead from there. The hotel has some lovely traditional features; it is not a contemporary hotel. The room was comfortable and updated but in keeping with the hotels traditional feel. It was very clean, not large but not small either. There was a mini bar/fridge to use for your own drinks or you can purchase the hotels selection. The modern bathroom was a good size and some lovely toiletries. The breakfast room was very light and airy and had quite a relaxing feel. There was a very good selection of continental style food. There was a courtyard where you could enjoy a drink from the bar. I would use this hotel again when we’re next in Verona

Room Tip: We were in a room which overlooked the courtyard and suffered no traffic noise.
