“Lovely apartment in Verona”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

The B&B consists of a double room on the first floor, in Fiorenza's large apartment, and a separate apartment on the 2nd floor. We tried both as the apartment wasn't available on the 1st night of our 3 nights stay. the double room is nicely appointed and offers privacy and a bathroom only used by the guests staying in that room. The apartment upstairs is great with its own little terrace with a table and a couple of loungers, the apartment also has a separate kitchen. beds are nice and big. The only downside of the b&b is the breakfast which doesn't offer many options (toast or pastries wrapped up in plastic) but the coffee is very nice!

This apartment is very conveniently placed being about 10 mins from the bus and train station and a short walk from the Arena and old town. It has air- conditioning ( very necessary when we were there) and wi-fi. The sloping roofs, being an attic, could be a problem if you are tall but the roof terrace garden is lovely and the perfect place for breakfast ( which is provided) or a glass or two of prosecco before going out for dinner. Fiorenza is very welcoming- but speaks little English. This is not a problem as communication can take place via e-mail. Fiorenza uses Google translate which results in some erratic but comprehensible English. Also, Fiorenza's daughter Valentina speaks English and is often available to translate. Verona is a wonderful city and also close to many other places worth visiting such as Venice, Lake Garda, Padua. Fiorenza provides lots of leaflets and information about various places of interest. The apartment is a charming place to stay whilst visiting this fascinating city.

We have just spent a super week in Verona & our holiday was made perfect by the lovely accommodation at B&B Gheller. Thank you Fiorenza & Mario for such a warm welcome & for being so very helpful during our stay. The attic apartment is so conveniently situated for easy access to the city centre & the bus & rail station. Fiorenza has thought of every possible thing that you could need, down to a needle & cotton for the odd repair. The apartment is spacious, immaculate & very comfortable & the breakfast very welcome. The secluded terrace with Fiorenza's treasured plants was so lovely to relax on after a day of sightseeing & the air conditioning was a joy.
This is a B&B apartment not to be missed. Thank you again Fiorenza & Mario. We look forward to return soon......Michele & Penny

I stayed in this lovely apartment for six nights in late June. Fiorenza and her husband was absolutely two of the nicest people I met during my three weeks travelling around Italy. Even though they don't speak english and I don't speak italian we managed to communicate just fine. The apartment is perfect, very clean, walking distance to everything and very comfortable with a gorgeous terrace. Verona was one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been to and I am definately going back, both to Verona and to b&b Gheller.

I spent a year studying in Verona four years ago and loved going back. We really enjoyed our stay here. It was wonderfully private, centrally located and great value. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bed was big and comfy and the cleaner came daily with fresh towels. The highlight however, it is the rooftop terrace! The friendly owners live in the apartment below. For tips, insights and recommendations on what to see, do and where to eat in Verona go to http://20daystotravel.wordpress.com/

It was an easy walk from the main train station - which was a short bus journey from the airport. All nicely described in the email from BBGheller, though a google map session beforehand may still help.
In an unassuming housing block, next to a lively looking cafe and a bridal shop and just before you get to a hotel (we checked their prices - over 120euro per night!), buzz the corner door - only 3 choices. The steel and glass door opens to reveal a spotless granite/marble faced corridor, a hint at the nice treat that awaits. Climb up the 2 floors to be welcomed by the very helpful and pleasant BB owners. They take you up one more floor (not a suitable place if you have mobility issues) and into the spacious top floor apartment. It is very well laid out and cosy. It has just about everything you might wish for in a b&b, books local guides, tv with loads of options and which we could use to show the photos from the sd card taken that day. Indeed, several lovely nice touches that were missing from all other b&bs that we visited.
The apartment wraps around a wonderful and private veranda area, perfect for an extended breakfast and relax before venturing into Verona. BBGheller has WiFi, which is excellent.
It is another 10 minutes stroll to get to the Piazza Bra - where the magnificent Arena is - and another 5 mins to the Piazza Erbe - where the market stalls set up. Both are lined with a superb collection of cafes, cocktail bars (mmm!), restaurants and ice cream parlours. Stroll on to Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliette Balcony - which you will know when you get there by the grim looking entrance gate all covered in notes of love stuck onto the black painted wall with chewing gum - thousands of coloured blobs.
I would recommend, if you are staying for a few days, to get the Verona Card - as this gives you access to all of the main attractions for a small price.
BBGheller is perfectly sited for this type of visit.
Yes, the lovely owners don't have much English, but they can call their daughter for translations - or you can use Google Translate via their WiFi for any written stuff.
The bed was quite firm, but perfectly clean. The shower was small but worked just fine - it did lose hot water for a while, but wait a moment and it is fine. The bathroom, like the bedroom and kitchen, is under a sloping ceiling - so tall folk may need to be cautious! But it somehow all fits in.
The kitchen has all the usual items and is perfectly adequate for simple meals.

Like another reviewer, we just a want to stay on the terrace and enjoy the beautiful day!
After 2 weeks travelling Europe, what an oasis! It's a home away from home....
Your own terrace, plenty of food and drink choices available already in your room.
