Description: The restaurant " Do Forni " was founded in 1973 and is managing with passion by Mr.Eligio Paties. " Do Forni " is distributed in two adjacent rooms: a rustic elegant room setting with the imagery of the ancient Venetian restaurant and the other one called Orient Express, whose luxurious furnishings reproduce accurately the setting and the soul of the famous wagon train that connects Venice to Istanbul and Paris. The restaurant features traditional Venetian cuisine, mainly seafood, which offers fish and shellfish of the Adriatic according to recipes handed down by the Venice of the past centuries and embellished with seasonal vegetables and delicate sauces; but also the restaurant is known for a refined interpretation of the Venetian and Italian cooking that mixes the use of meats and local vegetables with the influence of international gastronomy. Very large and qualified is also the restaurant's wine cellar, that offers the best labels from all the Italian regions, the most prestigious French wines and champagnes as well as a wide selection of international products.

“Just okay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2014

The restaurant was recommended by the concierge at the Westin Europa Regina so I was expecting better. We were there about 8:00 or 8:30 and it was almost empty. The service was neither good nor bad and that sums up the food. We were tired after a long day coming from Florence and perhaps that worked against the restaurant. But it was certainly nothing special...on a little back street.

“Very Expensive, Average Food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014 via mobile

We were referred by the hotel and were very disappointed. The decor was out of the Godfather and in much needed repair. 140 euros for lunch for risotto and two salads and bottle of wine. The seafood risotto was pretty much absent of seafood. A waste of time and money. Go elsewhere for better food, ambiance, decor and cost.

“Great Choice for Venetian Cuisine, Not Far from Piazza San Marco”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

My husband and I really liked this charming, Venetian restaurant so much, we ate here twice. It's not far from Piazza San Marco (a short meandre, down Calle do Rizzi, east of PSM) and the restaurant has three different themed rooms (an "Orient Express-styled" front dining room, a Garden Room, and a rustic old farm-house styled room). On our first visit, I had the caprese appetizer, and the Seafood Risotto, both of which were molto beine! My husband had the traditional Venetian seafood appetizer, consisting of oysters, and a variety of cold, poached seafoods. He then segued to the Halibut, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He wasn't thrilled with the crepes flambe, but I though they were good, and the cream was so decadent! On our second, I had a lovely, fresh salad, and the Veal Osso Bucco with peas that was great, and Don had the grilled prawns appetizer and the lamb, which he devoured handily! For desert this time, we shared the sacher torte and the apple pie! The wine list is varied, with lots of Venetian choices. On both visits, we enjoyed the "Vertigo" bottle, which was a delicious, red blend and kind of gave us a little bit of "vertigo" but in a happy way! The service was very good, polite and welcoming, and there was a good mix of locals and visitors here. No, it's not cheap, but any decent restaurant in Venice is going to cost you. So, stop counting your Euros, head to Do Forni, and ENJOY!

“Hugely disapointing.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014

Last night of a wonderful break in Venice. Do Forni looked great but there it ended. Indifferent service. Excessive charges and a menu that doesn't do Italian cuisine justice. Mozzerela & tomato starter bland until we saw others getting balsamic vinegar, salt and other additions. Why not us, "You didn't ask" we were told!!
Beef stroganoff not cooked as ordered, a lump of underdone beef. Comment and you get ignored, service then becomes even slower.
How to give a balanced opinion not possible with this establishment.
The preceding comments say it all.

“Wildly expensive”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

You want high end cuisine served by polished, liveried attendants, offering a world-class wine list? Here you go!

Spousie and I walked in thinking we'd grab a late meal. I was blown away by the prices.

If you've got the means for dining like this, consider taking a step down and donating the difference to one of the many Save Venice organizations.

Good morning dear guest,

We didn’t understand the meaning of your review because we are a restaurant and we sell food and you say nothing about it that could be helpfull for improve us.
You talk about prices and we can only say that prices are all written on the menu.
The only thing we agree with you is that doing charity is always a good thing,

Best regards
