My wife and I dined here on our last night in Venice. Thanks to Mirco, our concierge at Hotel Moresco, we were able to get canal side seating. It rained our first two days in Venice, but this day the sun decided to finally come out, and that evening was perfect for outdoor dining. The owner I believe, and the other waiter were very attentive and helpful. From wine suggestions, to course selections, we weren't disappointed. I had the pumpkin stuffed ravioli, that was topped with porcini mushrooms, and smoked pecorini cheese I believe. Mind you I'm not a fan of pumpkin (sweet potato man!), but I really enjoyed the dish. The smokiness of the mushrooms and cheese balanced out the sweetness of the pumpkin filling. We also had fried sardines and shrimp, but we weren't expecting to eat the shrimp whole! Shells and all! That was an experience to say the least! Although the shrimp were very flavorful, I couldn't get past the texture of the shells, or the fact that I scratched my throat a little swallowing a piece that wasn't chewed well! lol My wife and I both had fish, which were very flavorful but my wife's fish had bones everywhere. We're Southerners, so we're used to bones in our fish, and the small ones she found (easily) were picked over, and she still enjoyed her food. No muss, no fuss! We were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary, and refused to let anything bother us. Overall the food was very good, the service was excellent, and the setting was everything (and more) my wife had imagined. Will definitely return to Ai Artisti when we get back to Venezia!
